"Always Dad: Being a Good Father During and After Divorce"
Categories: Divorce & custody, Media, That's entertainment
Like a lot of fathers, Paul Madelstein took his divorce pretty hard. He had three kids, and after splitting with his wife, had to figure out how he could still be a dad even though he no longer lived with his children.
There's a number of dads going through this same struggle, but -- as Madelstein notes in the video -- most of the "resources" for single father are combative. Almost all the self-help books, and websites and discussion forums are intended to prepare men for the legal battle they'll face if they try and get equal time with their kids.
While that's certainly important, there's not much out there discussing what it takes for separated fathers to maintain a positive presence in their kids' lives, and form a cooperative relationship with their ex. That's why he wrote "Always Dad: Being a Good Father During and After Divorce."
Because -- legal issues aside -- in the end, your relationship with your kids is all that matters. As the title of the book suggests, no matter how often you see your kids, you're "Always Dad."
