Tom and Katie realize that parents can never really be cool

Filed under: Celeb Kids, Celeb Parents, Rumors

I used to lament the fact that, as a parent, I'd never be as cool as my non-parent friends. Because let's face it, even if "Grupsters" or "Hipster Parents" (or whatever) are revolutionizing child rearing with Neal Pollack's bible du urban parenting, everyone who doesn't have kids thinks our stories about changing diapers and precocious toddlers are boring and gross.

This is the message one French club sent to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes -- arguably the world's most-famous parents, especially now that it's been a few months since Brad and Angelina's last adoption. Even though the pair have been getting hoards of great press recently, and Katie is getting kudos in the fashion community for the stylishly cute outfits Suri's been sporting these days, the actors were refused entry to the VIP room at Byblos Hotel, a trendy St Tropez nightclub.

Apparently the room was full, and even after Cruise's staff reminded bouncers that they worked for...well...Tom freakin' Cruise, the celebrity 'rents still couldn't get in.

So they weren't somewhere else, and reportedly looked bored and out of place.

Now that sounds familiar -- has anyone else been out for a night on the town since having kids? I was 22 the first time I did this -- younger than half the people I was out with -- and had never felt so old.
