Note to Selma:
The Duggars are a family that lives in the U.S. and they have about 17 kids or maybe more by now. They are not on public assistance. The man in this article is apparently from a foreign country, so we don't have to directly pay towards rearing his brood with our taxes. The one you have to worry about it my husband's ex wife. She has 3 kids by 3 different men and I doubt she's ready to stop yet. She has milked the welfare system for YEARS.

How selfish of him!! Those poor children who will have to grow up with an old, old father who can't possibly participate in their day to day activities. I'm so sorry for them.
Also, if a person can't pay for their own children, don't have them - I grew up below poverty level, was abandoned by my father but my mother never received public aid. She worked in the factory, held her head high and taught her children to 'pull themselves up by their own boot straps'. We all have. Thanks Mom!

It is immoral to have this number of children. For the children's sake with the lack of an emotionally available parent, for the impact on the environment, and for someone's own ego needs to spread the "seed". Gyneth Paltrow was quoted recently in the paper to want many more children (biological). This is also irresponsible, just because you have money doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Person's with high profile should take the time to understand the power they have and that their comments could be helpful to society not for just personal gratification.

I don't mean to be prejudiced, but from a woman's standpoint I sure would hate to be a Muslim. These obviously are just being treated as slaves and brood mares. I can't see a shred of evidence that their mental or physical well-being is being considered here -- or the children's for that matter. How they can possibly be nutured physically or in any other way. For you guys who think this guy is a hero -- you are as selfish and moronic as he is. And yes -- Mother Earth does not all these children to support.

FYI -- anyone who has studied Osama bin Laden's life will realize that he came from the same sort of dysfunctional "extended" family and even had his own demented family now. When humans live like farm animals, don't expect them to grow up to believe in a loving God, expect them to grow up to believe in a vicious God. Islam is the most fundamentally evil religion I know of and maybe that stems from its acceptance of treating women like farm animals? If you think it is okay to treat your own mother as you would treat a cow or a pig, then what respect are you going to have for strangers? None.

One other thought though -- it is not fair to lump all Muslims together. I don't believe you see this kind of behavior in Muslims who have emigrated to this country. They have probabely come here to escape the radicals who practice their religion in this way and the countries where this brand of religion is forced on them. We can't judge a whole religion by the behavior of some people, and women are treated horribly in many cultures, but that is gradually changing. The key is education and humanitarian programs -- not war. War just breeds hatred and more misery in this world.
