It's clear that some coach along the way told her to say "such as" instead of "like," but failed to explain that "like" is a perfectly acceptable word in some cases.
And I hope this comment has been worth it, because I burned dinner typing it up! :)

Wow. That was amazing. Now that I've seen that, I'm actually a little dissapointed she didn't win.

That was amazing.
My husband watched with me and he counldn't stop laughing!
He also pointed out, why is it that we feel sorry for her instead of feeling like it's her own fault that she's a total idiot?
Poor girl.

All she had to say was some man are just afraid that they can't read a map and hate asking their wives for help. I'm sure she'll understand when she's married.

I finally found a transcript of this online, and have come to the conclusion that this girl is the posterchild for banning "stage parents" and other handlers at events like this. Seems like she was completely programmed for a "geograpy/world" question and told to get S.Africa and Iraq in there, because it would make her sound smart. But at the same time, her brain was rebelling, saying, "this question has *nothing* to do with either of those places, but get them in there anyway, because that's what will make you win". That, combined with the nerves that she was probably experiencing, culminated to form Miss Teen Chernobyl.

Wow. Wish I could come up with something deeper to add but I can't. And I'm not even from South Africa, Iraq or some Asian nations.

I agree with LS. She was definitely taught to get South Africa or Iraq in there, any way possible, no matter the question.
That was really, really bad.

I saw this one before. Some one should make a website of all these kinds of videos. I couldn't stop laughing.

It is a good thing that she is beautiful. At least with that quality, she might make it and not end up on a welfare line due to her inability to obtain a job that will allow her to earn a living. This lack of education did not happen overnight. It sure does not say much for the people that have been in charge of the education system for the last 50 years.

Okay so I go to this girls old High school. All yall people who are calling her idiots and stupid are idiots. How are you supposed to answer a question like that. Not to mention she was the first person to answer this question. If you really think about it all of yall prolbaly can't. Also, all the other girls got way easier questions and she is only 18 years old so who are yall to call her stupid she is just learning and she has never even been on tv. It was nerves that messed her up on that question not stupidity.

The REALLY frightening thing in all this is that the poor girl still managed to get 3rd runner-up!
If these pageants are all about "helping intelligent young women make a difference in our world" instead of about "strutting in a bikini," then WHY did SHE get 3rd???

Sadly she futher destroyed her reputation on the today show. She acted all cocky because her and her friends now where the US is on a map. LOL, congrats. I actually felt a bit sorry for her at first but after seeing how truly dumb she is on the today show I just hope she finds the right people to sleep with to be successful in life. It's her only hope. I loved the bit when she explained what a lunar eclipse is after being coached and reading off a teleprompter. Then Matt Lauer says how astonishing it was she knew that "off the top of your head". LMAO, hey Matt we aren't all as dumb as her, we know she didn't answer that "off the top of her head".

It is interesting that she managed to bring in helping the people of the "IRAK".. That is all what the US does these days, eh?.. i am surprised she did not throw in "spreading democracy and winning the war on terror".. maybe this explains why Bush could not find theWMD? he is one of those die-hard 20% of "US Americans" that do not have a map.. Bush should date her, they would make a cute couple!

What's ironic to me is that she is from a class of "haves". The have nots are always potrayed as uneducated, lowly serfs whom do nothing but waste time. This "have" obviously has the looks to take her places, like the big university she is slated to go to, but what scares me is that folks like her, like the Duke LaCrosse team and people like Michael VIck are considered great because they throw balls far or look great in a dress. Our society is led by these people who are usually in a position to make important decisions. I will NEVER let my son be taught in any school in SC or that this girl has gone to at the least. What a waste...
