Hayden Panettiere wants you to vote
Young people are not known turning out at the polls. In fact, as far back as I can remember, there have been MTV campaigns, celebrity drives and political initiatives to get kids in their late teens and early 20s to cast a ballot.
That's why Hayden Panettiere, famous for her role in TV's Heroes, celebrated her 18th birthday by registering to vote.
And she didn't stop there. The actress is an official spokesperson for the Declare Yourself campaign -- a non-partisan, non-profit, youth voter project that's trying to get 18-year-olds to register and vote in the 2008 primaries and general elections.
Panettiere seems to have chosen a winner. Declare Yourself has not only partnered with a host of popular websites like Yahoo!, MySpace, YouTube, Google and Evite, they managed to register 1.2 million voters in the 2004 and 2006 elections.
So what are you waiting for? Follow in Hayden's footsteps -- register! Vote! Make a difference!
