While many schools started weeks ago, Michigan prolongs summer vacation until after Labor Day to encourage the tourism dollars to keep flowing within the state as long as possible.
My oldest started high school on Tuesday, this made me feel older than you can imagine. Me! Mother of a freshman! My second born started junior high, which was startling as well. But the biggest blow was my baby starting kindergarten. The lump in my throat was and tears in my eyes were just over my selfish desire to keep someone little and fun around all day, the way it has been for years.
When the time came to drop off Scott at kindergarten, the actual scene was along the lines of this MasterCard ad:

My daughter started kindergarten this year, but I still have a toddler at home. No lump in my throat, just happy that I only have one during the day.
