High School Musical star's nude photo embarrassment
Every morning, Ellie and I walk the three houses down to the bus stop. She immediately ditches me to hang with her friends while I sip coffee and catch up with the neighborhood moms. We talk about school, the news and our plans for the day. This morning, the topic of conversation centered around Vanessa Hudgens, of High School Musical fame, and the nude photo of her that is floating around the Internet. The photo, in case you haven't seen it, is kind of innocent looking, except for the part where she's naked. She appears to be standing in a bedroom or dressing room, gazing at the camera, wearing nothing but a smile. She clearly is trying to look sexy, but to me she looks like a little girl playing grown up.
My friends thought it might not even be Hudgens in the picture, but it is. The 18-year-old actress has released a statement through her rep that says: "This was a photo which was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."
Unfortunate, indeed. Generally, my friends feel sorry for her and the embarrassment she must be feeling right now. Frankly, she's got nothing to be embarrassed out - she looks great. But I can see where she wouldn't want the whole world to know she looks great naked. So, why would she pose for such a photo? Why would any celebrity who wasn't looking for that kind of attention do that? And most importantly, will Disney drop her now that she has soiled her squeaky clean image?

What I don't get is why she admitted it was actually her in the photo. From what I heard, there was A LOT of speculation that it wasn't actually her, that it was her face photoshopped on someone else's body, etc. She should have just kept her mouth shut and waited for it to become old news.

Disney has already publicly stated that they are NOT dropping her.
And as for why she let the picture be taken -- well, she is only 18 (and who knows how old she was when the picture was actually taken). Who among us, as a teenager, didn't do or say something with or to a teenage boyfriend, that was supposed to be private, and then, when the break-up happened, suddenly was all over the place?
It just so happens that, because she is NOW a celebrity, more people know about it than her high school class.

She's totally, full frontal nude! And it's a pretty innocent photo, actually.
The world should move on. It's probably not this girl's most fun day in her life. But unless you consider it to be a crime for an 18-yr old to be naked (in which case you will, sooner or later, be a registered sex offender), there's not much of a story here.
