Five year old sleeps under his bed while helicopters search for him
Categories: Just For Moms, Kids 5-7, That's Entertainment
Actually, the boy was found under his bed, sleeping. Reportedly, he is a "very small boy" and "very hard to see' when he is curled up. but still. Eleven people searched his room and not one of them saw him?
The commenters on the original article seem to think the family should pay back the police force for the wasted time (and helicopters.) I'm not so sure, I know how it feels to be a frantic Mama, but I do hope Alex's Mom tells him to sleep on top of the bed from now on.

Wow, something like this happened to a family we know recently! Granted, no helicopters were called out, but the police came and cordoned off their whole neighbourhood and countless people helped them search.
Their daughter (who is two) fell asleep under their pillows up against the headboard of their bed! Several people lifted the duvet and covers off the bed, but no one lifted the mound of fluffy pillows! It was a few hours before anyone did.

When my husband was about 5 he and his cousin "hid" under their grandma's bed and had the whole neighborhood and police looking for them. Nobody even thought to look under the bed. And the kicker is that these boys were hiding, not sleeping!
I feel for that mom, that has got to be stressful but the police were doing their job and the fact he was found is all that matters, not that it was at home.

I know it is a little different, but, after searching my house (every room x 2) and lots of calling out for our two year old, I went out in the cold and rainy evening and searched for about two hours for my two year old. When I got too cold and wet I came home and told my wife, who stayed home to watch our infant son, I could not find her and was going to take a hot shower before taking the car out to look again. I pulled the curtain back to get in the tub/shower and there she was... my two year old German Shepard; just forgot to look there so I can understand overlooking what seems obvious in hindsight.

I've lost each of my chidren in my own home. I've called the police each time. Each time they assured my the child was in my house but it took a long time to find them.
The first was when my daughter fell asleep and was wedged between the mattress and the bed railing of her bed. She was about 3. There was a tiny gap between the mattress and the railing and she was in between. The mattress was just flexible enough for her to wedge in. I pulled the covers and pillows off the bed but did not see her. Her light pajamas and hair blended into the bottom sheet. Plus, it was unimaginable that she could have fit in such a tiny space. She was sleeping and despite tons of people calling out her name, she did not wake up.
My son got up in the middle of the night, climbed out of his crib (which we were unaware he could even do) and climbed into the sleeper sofa. He somehow got under the cushions and in a gap betwteen the loose pillows and the fold out bed. When I called the police and told them he was missing but that all doors were still locked from inside they kept telling me he was in the house. We opened every drawer, took the back pillows off the couch, etc. Eventually the noise woke him up and he poked out of the couch.
I was extremely embarassed both times, but do not feel bad for involving the police. We looked for a long time.

Instead of people thinking of ways for them to "pay back" police and everyone, I was thinking, Thank god it was a mistake and the little guy was fine.
