ParentDish Size Six - Six favorite toys from childhood
Filed under: Toys
I was recently pilfering through childhood photos when I found this one of me playing with my brand new kitchen on Christmas morning. Wasn't it high style? Man, I loved that kitchen.
It got me thinking about all of my favorite toys from the early-to-mid eighties.
1. The kitchen in the photo, obviously. I have no idea who the manufacturer was.
2. Easy Bake Oven - Does anyone remember the yellow one from the early 1980's? Those little cakes were tasty, and I certainly don't remember the oven cutting people's fingers off.
3. Strawberry Shortcake dolls - Oh, they smelled so good! I had Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Muffin, Sour Grapes and Purple Pie Man (he gave me nightmares).
4. Monchhichis - Well, these were just plain weird.
5. Dolly Pops - I can distinctly remember the clicking sound when you snapped the clothing on.
6. Cabbage Patch Kids - How could I leave these dolls off the list? I'm pretty sure I was the proud owner of five or six Cabbage Patch Kids. This was probably due to the fact that my mother had some sort of black market Cabbage Patch operation going on in our attic one holiday season. I kid, I kid.
Maybe.
What about you? Take me down memory lane!

Monchichi, monchichi
Oh so soft & cuddly
With his thumb in his mouth he's really neat
Love to wiggle his little feet
La-la-la, la-la-la
Happy, happy monchichi
(Or something like that.) Why my brain still retains that song but I cannot remember my daughter's first word I'll never know. Somewhat disturbing.

ColorForms!! Those were just plain ole fun.
I didnt have an easybake oven. somehow, somewhere, my mom found or had a miniature white oven. That looked and worked like a real oven. I rember burning my knuckles on the edge of the oven. But it was great. I wonder what happened to that thing.
How about teh FP People toys? I have the KFC resturant and the tree house up in the hayloft at my moms house. Or the pull along xylaphone(sp) I htink that is up there as well.
A few years ago I found a toy on Ebay that I had when I was a toddler, or younger.. but I remembered it. It was made by FP. Its a plastic "ball" bottom is a solid blue with a bell in it. Top is a clear plastic and inside there are two carousel horses and I think two ducks. They do nothing but rock. And the bell just rings. Simple toy, but it had nothing but memories for me. So I now have one sitting in my closet :)
