Crank Dat Soulja Boy (Superman) dance the new Macarena?
There is a new dance craze sweeping the nation, it is so hip and easy that dance teachers are enlightening young dancers to do the new jig. Called "Crank Dat Soulja Boy (Superman)" and performed by Soulja Boy, it features fun, energy filled choreography easily learned by young and old alike. Apparently the dance is so fun to perform that even ballet teachers are jumping on the hip hop train and teaching it to students. I remember when my oldest son was about the age of the little guy in the above video, he got hip to the Macarena and we had to play the song for months until his interest waned. This song seems a little less annoying than the Macarena but I might not introduce it to my three year-old, I don't think I want to be doing th Superman dance for the next five months. What do you think? Cool dance or annoying fad that will haunt your home until spring time?

Haha that was cute. I could imagine kids doing that at middle school (here we have jr. high school) dances.

These kids all seem very comfortable in their movements. It does disturb me to see such little girls shakin' they little a**es, though.

Not exactly a song I'd want my kid dancing to though the dance looks fun. I am not 100% what "superman"'ing is but from context it's something that you do to a "ho" which - that can't be good. :p

Tia, I looked it up on Urban Dictionary. You're exactly right...it isn't good. What are dance teachers thinking??

One of my younger cousins has been in dance since she was 3 and she's had some pretty provocative dance numbers to some pretty distasteful songs. I don't know what dance teachers think when they teach these little girls to shake their stuff.

I personally think this is a cool dance and an annoying fad. I have 3 sons (ages 12, 8, and 4). They all love this song and they have fun doing the dance. BUT... This song has been out for like the last 3 or 4 months and I'm SO tired of hearing it!!! Everytime it comes on the radio, I try to change the station before they realize what song is playing.

I would suggest all parents who think this is a "cute dance craze" look up the meaning of "Superman that ho".
My children are not allowed to sing/dance to this song because even if they don't know what it means ... I do.

I can't believe everyone is getting into this song!!! Come on people and wake up! Google it and check out what supermaning your hoe is. It's a disgusting song and parents should be outraged the the schools are bringing it to their children.

Think it's a "cool or cute" song/dance ? Just go to Urban Dictionary.com and search "superman dat hoe" and "super soak", then tell me you still think it's cute. Maybe we should just show our kids porno.

Do all of you realize that this song is not about superman, it is about a very lude, very crude, sexual act that depending on teh version you beleive, would be considered sexual assault. This artist is loving the joke he put over on all of you... This song makes "My Humps" and "Get Low" look like nursery rhymes. Do a few searches for meaning. Start at www.urbandictionary.com.

Parents...please do some research on this. I was informed recently that this "cute" dance has some pretty vulgar meaning behind the lyrics. When I found out that my niece was doing this dance at her studio, I researched on my own to find out the meaning behind "superman that ho" is in actuality a very crude sexual act. It's sad but we have to watch everything in this day and age. After you see what I am talking about, you will NOT think it's so cute anymore. Where did all the good hip hop go?

All you parents and people complaining and whining are ALREADY in trouble. I have a 7 yr old and a 15 yr old and we live in a upscale part of San Diego and this lil dance and others along with the whole "rap thing" is everywhere. If you had to look up the term that means you are waaaayy behind the ball and your kids are already doing twice what you think they are. The girls make butt shakin vids with cell phones/cams and send them to boys, have skimpy clothes that they keep at their "cool friend's moms" house..etc....You just can't say "ewww! No jr." Times are changing and you might want to think about adapting or taking on some of the "My mom is so cool I can tell her anything" aspects of parenting. Now I am not saying provide liquor/drugs and let them go crazy, but as the times change we as responsible parents are FORCED to change. IE my 7 yr old now has a cell phone with the family # locked it. I still can't believe a 7 yr old now has a ipod, a gameboy, and a cell phone...times are changing....lol

Yeah, this song may be out there and there isn't anything that can be done about it, but that doesn't make it right. It's sick and disgusting; does a parent really wish for their kids to be representing what is sung in this song by doing the dand? If you are okay with your kids listening to trash such as this vulgar, misogynist- yes, misogynist- music, you really need to rethink your morals and your abilities as a parent. A Good parent does not have a skanky daughter keeping revealling clothes at a friends house because the daughter has been brought up knowing stuff like that is wrong. Just because times are changing for the worse does not mean at all that everyone should just go along. A parent is not there to be a 'cool friend'- a parent is there to guide and protect and teach. If a parent fails at these, they are failing as a parent.
The toleration of this song and the popularity of it represent a falling of American lifestyle. Other countries are starting to see us as the "Trashy Nation" because of factors such as this song. Do y'all want to contribute to that world veiw?

To allow your children to sing and dance to a song that has disgusting garbage lyrics like this one does and simply to blow it off as "they don't know what they mean anyhow" or "everyone's doing it" or "it's the current culture and can't be stopped" is LAZY parenting. Actually, it's non-parenting. As a parent, you are supposed to provide education and moral/social guidance even if it doesn't make you the "popular" parent. Parenting is not a popularity contest. There is absolutely NO WAY my children would have been allowed to participate in this kind of garbage when they were younger. BTW, they're both young adults now and have actually thanked me for being strict when they were younger. They both told me something to the effect of, "We thought you were unreasonable when we were kids and you didn't let us do a lot of the stuff our friends were doing, but now we understand why and we appreciate it." If you can't take the "You are SO MEAN!" and "That is NOT FAIR!" comments that your children dish out when they don't get their own way but you know you're doing the right thing, then you shouldn't be parents. And any school or organization that is promoting garbage like this should be taken to task immediately.

So I am a non-parent to my daughter because we listen to this song. Well, I guess I am glad you cleared that up...I guess I shouldn't allow her to listen to the Beatles because they did drugs, and some of the songs were ??? at the time. or watch Scooby Doo--scooby snaks resemble paper drug hits. I probably shouldn't allow her in health class because they teach Sex education...Oh no, what will I do----You were strict with your kids, and they thanked you---Great!! I am not so blind that today's kids wouldn't hear it somewhere else if not the song--if they ask-- explain it(older kids) Use oppurtunities like this to make sure you know where your kids info comes from.

Are you telling me that none of you ever listened to questionable material w/o really knowing what it means? I think the age in the video probably do not have a clue--and if they do, the have older siblings or parents they overheard. I happen to love the song (workout speed) I do not see the harm. I think to many people underthink and overthink things--just live, laugh and enjoy.
I suppose you would not take a 12yr old to a My Chemical Romance concert.....
