Wii still hard to find - video
Filed under: Activities: Babies, Media, Gadgets, That's Entertainment
A year after the release of Tickle-Me Elmo or Furby, demand dropped and the patient(or unlucky the first time around) were rewarded with shelves stocked with the toys that had brought shoppers to blows. This isn't the case with the Nintendo Wii.
A full year after its release, the popular gaming system will still be missing from under many Christmas trees this year, as production still is unable to meet with demand.
Why? Promotions like this one show how the system can be fun and beneficial for people all ages have made the Wii desirable to demographics who never before had an interest in electronic gaming.

MrKniceGuy said...The "Wii" shortage is not really a supply issue. It's a demand issue. The components that make up the system are years old (no "high-def" here) and not in short supply like the Sony Blu-ray parts were. However, the shortage of Wii systems sure doesn't hurt the hype on the system. Nintendo denies this but the shortage defies logic. If they wanted to build more systems than they are, they could.
If you want a fun family console for Christmas, the Xbox 360 has some of the best parental controls I've seen.

As a parent and a gamer I have been very happy with my Xbox 360. Just a thought if you go to the store and they don't have the Wii you were looking for, grab a 360 and Viva Pinata!

I have played the 360 and opted to buy the Wii. Fewer games (for now) but it's significantly easier to hand to someone and watch them enjoy. Even my Mother In Law got into some tennis this fall.
This is also an AWESOME party system! I know of several Wii Parties that have happened around here. Short games that get people moving and having fun. It's much more fun to move than to sit and stare.
My wife has no grasp on the "traditional" game controller but can play the Wii easily. The Wii is best for my family.
