Jamie Oliver gets Shiloh Pitt's name really wrong
Filed under: Celeb Kids, Celeb Parents
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver may be famous for creating mouthwatering delicacies, but this time he has put something a lot less tasty in his mouth: his foot. According to the Daily Star, during a phone conversation with Angelina Jolie, Oliver had a little slip of the tongue when asking about Shiloh, Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter. It seems he got some letters in her name mixed up and accidentally (I hope) called her Piloh Sh*t.
Angelina Jolie didn't think it was funny and neither should you. It's not funny. Of course Oliver apologized and even sent over a Cheerios dessert treat in an effort to smooth things over.
You know, if you are going to mangle someone's name, you really couldn't do much worse than that.

Melissa said...Sorry, but I think it's funny. If it was my kid or even me, and it was a true mistake, I'd think it was hysterical.
If Angelina's mad, maybe it's because she should have thought of this when naming her kid.
I know we're all supposed to be nice, but has the world gotten to a point where we can't laugh when someone makes a mistake?

(Just look at the work he has done here across the UK with healthy meals for the schools, and before that the cooking school and restaurant "15" he set up for unemployed young people to work in. He spends a lot of his life, and his money, helping others.) I bet he was absolutely mortified and felt terrible.
But Sandy - it IS kind of funny. I giggled a little (in an "The Office" or "Curb Your Enthusiasm" slightly uncomfortable way) when I heard this. Talk about a bad name for the playground!
I mean, it wouldn't be funny if he was trying to be offensive. But he's a heart on his sleeve kind of guy, who is lovely with his two little daughters, and he has no history of being offensive, so I choose to believe he was not trying to be.
Are you a little worried Angelina is going to read this and want to make sure you won't feel her wrath too? ;)

ninainindia said...I don't believe this story at all! Why would he even say her last name? When talking to someone on the phone would you say how is Shiloh Pitt doing or would you ask how Shiloh is doing? Her name isn't even Shiloh Pitt, it's Shiloh Jolie Pitt, I think this story was made up by the tabloid.

@ ninainindia
You might be right, but it's also pretty common for people to just assume a child's last name is the same as the father's.

Mama T said...Even if this isn't true, it's unfortunate for that child because SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE down the line is going to mix up her name too. But, sorry, it did make me laugh.

I do think in this case it was a mistake. Certainly my tongue becomes tangled all the time.
