Jovovich explains her baby's unusual name
Categories: Celeb Parenting
Multi-talented actress/model/designer/singer Milla Jovovich blogged about how her daughter with fiancee Paul Anderson got her unusual name, Ever Gabo.
"Ever" is a Scottish boy's name and pays homage to the baby's Scottish heritage. And rather than her middle name being a sly tribute to Eva, Greta, or Zsa Zsa that I had guessed, "Gabo" is "a mixture of my parents names!" Jovovich writes. "The first two letters are after my mom's first name, Galina and the last two letters are after my dad's first name Bogie!"
Another day, another unusual celebrity baby name mystery solved!

She might not realize, but Gabor is also a Hungarian Boy's first name. I had a classmate named Gabor in college.

Yes, in fact I misread it. Thanks for the rather snippy correction. :-p

I am of Scottish Heritage, both of my son's have Scottish names. With all due respect I have never heard or seen "Ever" as a name Scottish, Italian, Irish or English. Renauld is a great Scottish name why not that one but "Ever"?

Okay I get her reasons for the name...odd yes, but my question is why did she chose a boy's name representing the baby's heritage if the baby is a GIRL?? I'd rather her explain that one.

A lot of names that were orginally for boys are now girl names: Madison, Lesley, Kelsey, Kelley, Jaime, etc, etc.
Ever Carradine is happy with her name. I like Ever; it could have been SOOO much worse (do you hear me, Suri? A llama)

LOVE IT! what a cool name! I'm so into off names. when I named my 1st son, nurse came & told me several other Mom's now using my Son's name. So much for his new & unusual, by time I left 2 least 6 others had my Son's name too. :-(

I grew up with an odd name and I can tell you it isn't a good idea. You are constantly explaining your name. And this practice of giving girls boy's names is terrible. It was cute when it was Jaime but it's gotten way out of hand. Why would you want to make life tougher for your child.

I wish new parents everywhere, especially celebrities seeking just another publicity stunt, would realize that the poor kid has a lifetime ahead of him/her of having to explain the stupid details of the origins of their names everytime they sign a legal document or answer the teacher in class. Think first and then give the kid a reasonable, civilized name based on your ethnic or religious culture.

Nobody HAS to explain the stupid details of their names. Frankly it isn't anyone's business. If you;re signing a document, you need answer no questions beyond which are required for the document. The details or origins of a person's name, first or last, is not necessary in order to get that document signed. Same goes for a teacher. A teachers job is to teach, not interrogate a child about his/her name.

I agree, Ronnie. Just go through the alphabet. Any thing except Gabor: Gaboo, Gabop, Gabog, Gagob.

Thats a vey sweet name, and pretty catchy too. My daughter has three last names, Haley Shannon Rebarger. Haley and Rebarger is my husbands side of the family and Shannon is mine.

I love unique names as long it isn't one of those play on words names like Candy Barr. When I got married my name became a very common name and I don't like it at all.
There are always mix-ups and wrong phone calls. You hope that when someone Goggles you they are actually receiving info about you! A benefit to an unusual name?...No one ever forgets it.

I love the name! Just unusual enough without being strange. Especially the 'Gabor' part, very creative. You people worried the kid is going to 'have a hard time', she'll fit right in with all the other kids with unusual names, and she'll get a nickname. "Evvie". What's so bad? Anyone named Debby, Lisa, Sue, Linda, Bob, Kevin - they are most likely reaching retirement age now. And I always felt sorry for the Annas, Theresas, Marias, Anna/Theresa/Marias in school - they may as well have been called "Italiano Catholica" there were so many.

Growing up I heard of these parents naming their two twin girls Ima and Youra Pigg. How terrible and hurtful. It was in the 80's and to this day I wonder about those poor little girls and the torment.
