Jovovich explains her baby's unusual name
Filed under: Celeb Parents
Multi-talented actress/model/designer/singer Milla Jovovich blogged about how her daughter with fiancee Paul Anderson got her unusual name, Ever Gabo.
"Ever" is a Scottish boy's name and pays homage to the baby's Scottish heritage. And rather than her middle name being a sly tribute to Eva, Greta, or Zsa Zsa that I had guessed, "Gabo" is "a mixture of my parents names!" Jovovich writes. "The first two letters are after my mom's first name, Galina and the last two letters are after my dad's first name Bogie!"
Another day, another unusual celebrity baby name mystery solved!

Barbara said...Okay I get her reasons for the name...odd yes, but my question is why did she chose a boy's name representing the baby's heritage if the baby is a GIRL?? I'd rather her explain that one.

Kara said...A lot of names that were orginally for boys are now girl names: Madison, Lesley, Kelsey, Kelley, Jaime, etc, etc.
Ever Carradine is happy with her name. I like Ever; it could have been SOOO much worse (do you hear me, Suri? A llama)

Rae O'Shea said...I grew up with an odd name and I can tell you it isn't a good idea. You are constantly explaining your name. And this practice of giving girls boy's names is terrible. It was cute when it was Jaime but it's gotten way out of hand. Why would you want to make life tougher for your child.

Tom Simonton said...I wish new parents everywhere, especially celebrities seeking just another publicity stunt, would realize that the poor kid has a lifetime ahead of him/her of having to explain the stupid details of the origins of their names everytime they sign a legal document or answer the teacher in class. Think first and then give the kid a reasonable, civilized name based on your ethnic or religious culture.

Nobody HAS to explain the stupid details of their names. Frankly it isn't anyone's business. If you;re signing a document, you need answer no questions beyond which are required for the document. The details or origins of a person's name, first or last, is not necessary in order to get that document signed. Same goes for a teacher. A teachers job is to teach, not interrogate a child about his/her name.

There are always mix-ups and wrong phone calls. You hope that when someone Goggles you they are actually receiving info about you! A benefit to an unusual name?...No one ever forgets it.

Lassie said...I love the name! Just unusual enough without being strange. Especially the 'Gabor' part, very creative. You people worried the kid is going to 'have a hard time', she'll fit right in with all the other kids with unusual names, and she'll get a nickname. "Evvie". What's so bad? Anyone named Debby, Lisa, Sue, Linda, Bob, Kevin - they are most likely reaching retirement age now. And I always felt sorry for the Annas, Theresas, Marias, Anna/Theresa/Marias in school - they may as well have been called "Italiano Catholica" there were so many.
