Jovovich explains her baby's unusual name
Filed under: Celeb Parents
Multi-talented actress/model/designer/singer Milla Jovovich blogged about how her daughter with fiancee Paul Anderson got her unusual name, Ever Gabo.
"Ever" is a Scottish boy's name and pays homage to the baby's Scottish heritage. And rather than her middle name being a sly tribute to Eva, Greta, or Zsa Zsa that I had guessed, "Gabo" is "a mixture of my parents names!" Jovovich writes. "The first two letters are after my mom's first name, Galina and the last two letters are after my dad's first name Bogie!"
Another day, another unusual celebrity baby name mystery solved!

Dave said...You know this is really sad. I was teased and was asked about my name all my life and it sucked and it still sucks. People give your children normal names so they wont have to deal with being teased and humilated there whole life. I told my Mom that I wanted to change my name and she told me she would dissown me. Well, I should have just changed it and let her dissown me. It would have been worth it.

Okay I get her reasons for the name...odd yes, but my question is why did she chose a boy's name representing the baby's heritage if the baby is a GIRL?? I'd rather her explain that one.
______
Don't know where she came up with Ever as being a Scottish name. Maybe it is a nickname someone used but it is not "traditional" Scottish name.

me2annoyed said...My given name is fairly common for my age group but since my mother was from Germany, the spelling is a little different so I'm constantly having to correct people who automatically assume it is spelled the traditional American way. What a pain! However, worse yet, my parents have never called me by my given name (except when i was in BIG trouble lol), instead chose to call me lisa. Keep in mind, I am a child of the 60's so in school I was always referred to as Lisa B, along with the other poor girls who were tagged with the last initial thing also. When I had my daughters, I so wanted to name them something to avoid the herd mentality but not something completely off the wall, so instead of making up a name, i decided to go back to the popular names of the 40's and 50's that are never heard anymore so i ended up with Peggy Ann and Lynda. they went to a large high school and never had anyone else in their school with the same first name, problem solved. I do think that Ever is pretty though. Gabo, rather unusual but since it is a middle name, quite acceptable.

Growing up with my name was a little difficult and I still have adults who think its acceptable to make fun of it but it no longer bothers me because my name is unique and beautiful and unforgettable. My name is obviously a part of who I am now and it built character. I love unusual names. Common names are just that, common!

I think aslong as people teach their kids not to make fun of some one just because their name is odd then people should name thier kids whatever they want....

Veda said...I have an unusual name. People always make fun of it, or tell me how it SHOULD be pronounced. When I was a kid, I wished for a more common name, but now it's fine. Basically a conversation piece and a source for amusement when people get it wrong.
I think Ever is a pretty name. And, certainly not as bad as Pilot Inspektor or Moon Unit!!
Maybe Ever and family should move to Boston. Then, her name would be pronounced "EE-vah" and would thus be more of a common name that people could relate to. :-)

K said...I have a somewhat common name, but the spelling is different by one 1 extra "r" and I have had to explain that my whole life and it has never bothered me once to tell the story behind that extra ”r”. I don’t usually correct someone if they spell it wrong, but I get questioned on it constantly. My English teacher from high school always picked on me for it and made jokes in front of the class about how that one extra "r" in my name will have wasted so much ink in my life time. I always liked that the spelling of my name was unique, it had made me feel special. I spelt my daughter’s name differently also and the only downfall with her so far is that she gets upset when she sees personalized things at the store and they never have the spelling the same as hers. I think unique names are great as long as they don’t cause the child to get teased. It’s better than when I was in school and we had 3 Kelly’s, 3 Amy’s, 3 Jennifer’s, 3 Matthew’s, 4 Christopher’s and 5 Jonathan’s in each class.
