5 year old shoots 445 lb bear

I am a mother of four, three of which were boys. I was given a 22 rifle by my brother in 1943 when he left to fight in world war two. My dad taught me safety rules and I kept the cherry orchard free of pigeons with a 16 guage single shot- shot gun. By the time the oldest of my boys was 9 I started teaching them to hunt, but until they were 12 we just packed the "22" and learned how to carry it, how to cross fences, how to ALWAYS keep it unloaded unless we were going to aim at something. We always ate EVERYTHING we killed, bones and ribs were either boiled for lunch meat or scaped clean. I don't like killing animals, but we needed the meat, and we NEVER sat in tree, we hunted.

who says they aint gonna eat it? and if he wants to hunt, letem hunt, and joy, it aint illegal to hunt if ur on ur own land and with an adult

Of course I cant neglect you PETA people. It amazes me how you think you are much more civilized than those who hunt. First off hunting keeps certain populations of animals from overpopulating which does many things, not the least of which is that it curbs the spread of diseases like Limes. the other is that if you want to continue to eat the mass produced, hormone laden, Feces eating "farm" raised animals, feel free. Then you can keep wondering why people have a much higher incidence of cancer, diabetes and a host of other diseases.

Okay listen, there is a time to hunt an yes it is a sport also. I do beleive you should not shoot anything unless you have a good reason or your going to eat it. Putting that opinion aside.....lets focus on what is healthy for a childs mind an what isnt. This family has no problem teaching the hunt an how to shoot prey to their under age son. Hopefully it will never be a problem for him, hopefully he learns respect for human life. Children do not use logic till middle childhood. The reason why they can beleive in outlandish fantasy, the innocence an unquestioning. It is not healthy to introduce killing to a baby, it means nothing to him. he is mimicking right now.You will have to teach a strong line of morals an responsibility, while censoring him from all misuse of guns on t.v. He is a child afteralll an little children cannot always be responsible an account for their actions. They will not always be young an innocent or sheltered an supervised. It is safest to wait for an older mind that understands life an death, before he kills an animal.

I hope a California Mountain Lion eats some of these armpits like they havebeen doing for years 15000-20000 of those mountain lions now good luck without bullets to save your loved ones We will have to hire the Illegals to kill them for us they are the only armed people in California.

I am appalled that any parent would allow a 5 year old to be anywhere near a gun. Hunting is wrong. It is not a sport. A sport means a fair competition between two relatively equal sides. It makes no difference if you eat the meat. We do not need to kill wild animals to eat.

i think all these people that dont like to hunt & see animals killed, not the dumb ones , they get to many & get sick & die off , die from not enough food, if some one dont kill them ,then they will get to many of them, i love to hunt & eat them as food, they buy meat in the store, they need to think, some one killed it, & as for the boy, real good, at least he will grow up to hunt , not be doing things he should not be doing,

Some of the best times in my youth was with my Dad in the woods or in a boat fishing, At least this young man will probably turn out better than the youth of today
