I've only been in Oklahoma at my parents' home for 24 hours and I'm already feeling super blissed out.
(FYI - The 2 flights and accompanying layover were perfect yesterday, thanks to all of your recommendations! The DVD player definitely won the Most Valuable Player Award. God Bless the DVD.)
Like I've said before, raising a toddler without any family around can be quite challenging. It's all you, all of the time. Since I walked through the door yesterday afternoon, Wito has been surrounded by doting family members, and I've been thrilled to do absolutely NOTHING. In fact, I'm straining to come up with my plans for the day.
Maybe I should just spend a little more time on the couch coming to that decision. Viva la holidays!

Nicola said...Its weird, isn't it? My in laws are here now. They live overseas and see the boy only once or twice a year. He is their one and only grandchild. So, when they're here, they are all his (and vice versa). Which leaves me at home with FREE TIME. For the first couple of days, I wander the house aimlessly. The cleaning is done, the chores are complete, the errands have been run, and the boy is happily being educated and entertained by his grandparents. What on earth do I do with myself??? On Sunday morning, I spent a full TWO HOURS sitting by the window in the sunshine, drinking tea and reading. Incredible. And well deserved!

So I have this tendency to hover about trying to at least look like I`m helping in some capacity. It`s not that I don`t trust the in-laws to properly care for my son - after all, they`re the ones who made my husband, so they must have done the right things! But I just feel way too stressed by NOT doing things. I know I could probably totally relax when they`re around, but it just feels too weird!
