When it comes to talented, amazing athletes, it's not uncommon to hear things like "They were born wearing ice skates."

If you're hoping for an Olympic skater (or just a hockey or ice skating enthusiast), a line foot coverings for pre-walkers by Heather's Treasure Box available at Mahar Dry Goods is an adorable way to hedge your bets.

All the booties are hand-crocheted and require two to three weeks to be created, but the adorability of the styles (figure and hockey skates-with yarn blades on the bottom! beach bum sandals! wee faux doc martens! cowboy (and girl!) boots!) make it well worth the wait. Prices range from $30-$40.

Or, you can find them in places like the little store I work for, for about half that price! The hockey skates and the "cowboy", (though girls can wear brown too) boots we do have, plus white "quad" roller skates and a mini version of black "Converse" Chucks. As well, we have some "Mary Janes" in black with white ankle socks usually available. They're all crocheted by the store owner's Mom in Saskatoon and sent to us in Toronto. We've been stocking them for over a year, and they're pretty popular. I like to give them as gifts myself! I'm going to have to beg the boss's mom to make the Docs though - those are pretty cool
