Two year old left at Chuck E. Cheese, family doesn't notice for 2 days
Categories: Toddlers, Relatives, Fun & activities, Places to go, In the news, Weird but true
As a parent, I've made my share of embarrassing goofs. I've forgotten it was a half-day of school, been late picking up the kids, failed to notify the tooth fairy that we needed to be added to the route.
However, I'm positive if any of kids were missing, I'd notice within less than forty-eight hours.
A Texas family accidentally left a two-year-old girl at Chuck E Cheese and police weren't notified she was missing until her father saw her picture in a news report two days later. According to the father, his sisters took the toddler to a birthday party at the pizza place and because the little girl frequently stayed over at her aunts houses, the father had no idea the child wasn't with relatives.
It is scarily easy to assume someone else is watching a kid and have them assume YOU are. We're always freakishly listy when it comes to the boys, checking and double checking out loud who is picking up this one and dropping off the other and where the rest will be.
I bet this family is from now on too.

these people don't need children if they are to irresponsible to not know exactly who has your child every minute of everyday. i have two jobs and two kids and i know where they are every minute whether they are at school or with there dad or grandparents.we always check with each other. and i am home everynight to tuck them in there own beds. As a parent it is your responsibilty to know everything about who your child is with and exactly where they are. what if someone would have taken em and done somethin really bad. it's a sick world we live in. shame on you........shame on you and the idiot who took em to chucky cheese and forgetting. you should not have kids either. MOORON!!! you should be charged with child endagement and abondonment. and the parents should be charged with neglect for not knowing where their kid was.

THE KID'S PARENTS AND FAMILY MUST BE RETARDED OR ON DRUGS OR BOTH...I AM A MOTHER OF 4 AND TO THIS DAY, IF ONE OF MY GROWN CHILDREN DOESN'T CALL ME DAILY, I WORRY...THE WRONG PEOPLE ARE GIVEN CHILDREN SOMETIMES...

Someone needs to call Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar! Let this family teach those idiots how to watch over children.

I agree. My kids are now 23, 20 and 16. As they grew, and still do, call me when leaving the house, when they get to their destination, I know who they are with, where they are going and when they will be back..EVERY time they leave. It has always been that way. They never ran the streets and they didn't run with the "wrong" crowd. They always did good in school (my 20 year old in college studying Astro Physics). They grew up to be decent, caring adults. People who don't keep up with their kids, obviously don't care what they do, and who they are doing it with. These are kids who will end up being statistics.

these people should not be allowed to reproduce period. i don't care if i left my two year old at an aunts or even my mothers. i would still call him/her a couple times a day to see how it was going. whats up with the dad for not even calling to see how the kid was doing? or to see if she enjoyed chuckie cheese's? no excuse would do as far as i am concerned.

some people should not reproduce. i don't care if my two year spent three fourths of their time at relatives i would be calling a couple times a day just to let them know i loved them. what's up with this dad? he shouldn't be allowed to have the child back. a two year old needs to know their parents love them constantly. missing two days and dad has no clue? whats wrong with this picture?

While this story is very intriguing, what's most intriguing is the part of the story that isn't being told. Where was the 2 year old and how did she survive alone for two days.
Nancy 1-10-2008 @ 8:46PM
Agreed. Even if I thought my child was with my sister I'd certainly have called to say goodnight or something. Who leaves a kids with relatives without checking on them? Crazy!
Mary 1-10-2008 @ 10:40PM
I agree with you. I would have called the aunt to ask about my child even if I had known she took the child home with her. I would want to know what she was doing at least.

I agree, your absolutly right, I am a mom of two and always spent every minute looking to make sure my babies were right there with me and left with no one but me.

This story seems so idiotic that we will most likely find it to be Urban Legend in the future. First of all, where were the Police, Detectives and Crime scene investigators? A two year old was abandoned at Chuck E Cheese for Pete's sake. To make this story even better, maybe Chuck E Cheese took the child home to it's little hole in the wall to feed it his crunmbs and change it's diapers for two days. Only then perhaps did Chuck E. want to return the kid as he/or she was coloring on his walls in permanent marker and this, I hear, sets Chuck E. off? Maybe the kid had so many chips that he decided to hide in the photo booth until his 2 day shoot was over?
In either respect wouldn't the police conduct an investigation of everyone who had parties there that day and question all of their guests? In that area, wouldn't the story be all over TV and the News within seconds???? Hello McFly anyone home?

I have a 4 1/2 year old and even if I bring him to his sitter(the only non-family member to ever watch my son) for an hour or two, I call to if nothing more, just to hear his voice in the background. I have never let him stay with anyone overnight away from me except for visits with his dad that I have no choice, even then I call him to speak to him, with his own father. Men can be so thoughtless when it comes to small children who are defenseless. Where is this "baby's mommy"?
This is disgusting to think a 2 year old was left, not even thought about for 2 days, until the so-called father saw her picture. What drugs was he on? This is one child that if, she falls through the cracks, like so many do, we will be hearing about after she is killed, knock on wood, I just hope she has a guardian angel to protect her and allow her to grow up safely and beat the statistics you hear about. The father should not have custody or unsupervised visits, what else has happened to this little girl behind closed doors? Has she been taken care of properly at all?

OK I generally do not reply or add a post. But this has upset me. There is no explanationor excuse for this. i travel often and no matter where I am i call my child to say good morning and good night.
Shame on the parents of this poor child, please tell me the authorities are looking into this family.

I HOPE the parents are arrested and charged with neglect. I do everything I can for my 2 year old. Then, their are kids raised like this that MY loved, little sweetheart has to grow up with and go to school with. It sucks.
