Female teacher at Houston school suspended
Filed under: Teens, In The News, Day Care & Education
Have you noticed an increase of news reports lately of stories about female teachers having sexual relationships with teenage boys? Wednesday, a 42-year-old female teacher in Houston was suspended and arrested after she was caught (CAUGHT!) by the principal with one of her students. This is the third incident at that school.I would never try to get inside the head of a pedophile, because clearly their brains do not function the same as most of us. However, I can't help but think about it sometimes. What in the world is appealing to an older woman about a teenage boy? This woman was 42 years old. Of course it isn't about the same dynamics as a regular relationship, but doesn't it make you wonder about these crazy women?
It scares me, too, because I have a teenage son. Teachers play an influential role in children's lives and it sickens me when they take advantage of that power they have over children. I really have very little to say about this case because I have a problem even watching the news reports on our local news. The school sent home a letter to the parents (link) informing them of the incident. Personally, I think I would probably go into meltdown mode if my son brought this letter home.
The whole series of events begs the question: Can I lock my son in his room until he's 30?

Don said...Good thing she isn't a male teacher. He would go to jail, this one will get a suspended sentence like most of the other females had. It's great to be a female.

HCM said...Ever notice that the real good looking female teachers get little or no time, and the more "homely-looking" ones get more jail time, but neither as much as what a male teacher would get. A crime is a crime no matter what the criminal looks like -- that's why no one has any faith in our justice systems, because the common folks get screwed!
JUDGES & LAW-MAKERS: FIX IT!!!!!

Chum said...I don't think these women are trying to feel younger, I think that they are looking for a hormal male to satisfy their needs, sexually and emotionally. Trust me, there is nothing in comon with that age gap, just raw sex.

HomeSchooler said...Have you ever considered homeschooling? Google homeschool for more information - Homeschooling can be done for little or no cost! Your public library has many of the same textbooks that your public schools use. Textbooks are also available on Ebay and at www.bookfinder2u.com (research for the best price!) You do NOT need the fancy equipment that the schools have. Those have been designed to withstand use by 1000's of students. Son wants woodshop? Network with friends! Daughter wants auto mechanics- network!
Our "School" is open 24/7/365! Spelling at 7pm - Scrabble anyone! Math at 4- Who's up for a game of Yahtzee! Northern Lights!- augh, there is nothing like laying on your front lawn while enjoying Science! (and you don't need to worry about getting them up and dressed by 6 to go to "school" the next morning!) The world is our Class Room and we are Free to Explore, Enjoy and Learn! A table and chair in a crowded room vs the World as your Classroom! Not so creative- Use the Scouting books, they have a well rounded curriculum built right in!

HomeSchooler said...Keep them locked up? - ha! far from it! WE, I repeat, WE, are out exploring the world. "Locked up" is what the Public School does to the children. I know where my children are 24/7. No drugs, guns, or violence enter the door to our school. Through these doors enter the Future! Guaranteed. *And we don't even have to have metal detectors! You may have experienced different styles of Homeschooling, each family holds "classes" in their own way - just like the public schools do! They have their way, I have mine. My children all learned to read by the age of 4, and began chapter books at age 5. I did send my children to a public school for preschool but they where so far advanced the had little intrest. The other kids where still learing their colors and shapes. Chum, my children have Goals and have been Challanged to complete those goals. We have structure. What was your lifes goal at age 10 - to be a rock star? Well, mine wish to explore higher education - 1 a Neo-Natal Specialist, 1 hopes to work at NASA predicting the weather and the other is quite comfortable discussing Bio-resources. Their entire curriculum is structured, well balanced, accurate, and beyond what the public schools have time to teach. Because my children do not have to stand in line for lunch or sit and wait 15-20 minutes during each class period for the teachers to take roll and settle kids into place - we are able to move along much faster. Statistics show that of the 1 hour allowed for each period only 20 minutes is actually spent teaching students. While they wait, my children are already moving on to the next level. I don't keep my children locked up, far from it. If we are learning about caves, we go to the caves. Videos just don't compair to the REAL World! Ask them what they thought of the Rockie Mountians, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, the Great Plains, 4 Corners, Williamsburg, Gettysburg, Washington DC, Smithsonian, NASA - just to name a few. Tell me what you remember of the Civil War and the kids will tell you what they saw first hand! Homeschool doesn't mean we school only at "home"! We are life long learners. The World is our Classroom. No public school teacher could ever compair.

Ginna said...The problem is, not enough is being done to punish these offenders in the first place. Oftentimes deals will be struck when an inappropriate situation is discovered ("Resign and let's keep this quiet", "Leave and we won't press charges", etc.) It seems the law isn't on the side of these victimized children, with judges handing out light prison sentences or worse, probation. Anyone who has sex with a child is a pedophile, period, and deserves nothing less than prison.
Let's start protecting these children and stop hand holding the offenders! It's just sickening.

Katrina said...Background checks don't show anything if there was never a charge or conviction for prior actions. I am a teacher and I'm very disturbed by the increase in these incidences. I believe that as part of the licensing process, teachers need to undergo a thorough psychiatric exam. Maybe we could weed out some of these sickos.

I have to say the police here are doing an excellent job of busting child molestors and trying to put a stop to the tours from the states that come here to have sex with underage children. They will even bust you if they find porn on your comuter and they look to see who is receiving it here. I am a father and a grandfather. The people are very friendly here and i know most of my neighbors. When i go to the store i buy candy bars and pass out to the children on the way home, if their parents are with them. Some of the parents can never afford to buy candy for their children and i like to see the children happy. They are the future of our world.

sherry allen said...This is totally getting out of hand, and I do think reminding teachers at meetings is a good idea. We should all talk to our children about this, this really makes you more and more leary to send you children off to school. You never know what will happen, but on the other hand you cannot keep them away from the world. Just look for any changes in behavior. As parents that is all we can do.
