Happy 50th birthday Lego

Today is the 50th anniversary of the Lego brick.Lego began in 1932 in Denmark, but the original Legos were wooden, not plastic. The name Lego is a combination of two Danish words: "Leg" and "Godt" which together means "play well." After the original wooden Legos, Christiansen began making plastic Legos which are still being manufactured today.
Even now, my son is crazy about Legos. He has created some great things with Legos over the years. I never seemed to be able to create anything impressive. My Lego creations have always consisted of a bunch of bricks all clumped together. However, Kyle has built a Star Wars ship, monsters and castles.
I have always wanted to take my son to Legoland to see all of the creations made out of Legos. Has anyone ever been? Legos have always been a good, creative toy for kids, but I never enjoyed stepping on the leftovers that didn't make it back to the box. Unfortunately, I have probably thrown away several of those that have pierced my feet over the years.
What crazy creations have your kids made with Legos?

I have been to Legoland Windsor - before I had kids! My husband is a huge lego fan. It was fun and interesting, but I think I will enjoy it even more when we take our boys there.

My husband would kill me if he found out I put this online, but I just have to tell... on Saturday, he sent me a picture on my phone of the Lego Stargate he has just completed. I think he's building the various ships from SG-1 as well... I know, he's not my kid, but he plays with Legos more than the rest of us combined (and we have thousands upon thousands of them, from huge ones to new ones).
I can't wait for the Indiana Jones ones, though. What can I say, they're fun!

We visited Legoland in San Diego last summer, and it was AWESOME.
Much better than Disneyland, I thought.
Happy Anniversary to Lego!

My husband and I went to Legoland in Denmark a few years ago, it was so awesome! Entire miniature cities made out of legos and much more. And the rides were cool too of course. We hope to be able to take our kids one day.
