Do you include your kids in your Super Bowl parties?
Categories: Fun & Activities, That's Entertainment
I have never really celebrated Super Bowl Sunday by going to various parties or having a big celebration at my house. I enjoy watching the game and I have always enjoyed watching the commercials. A few years ago, my son asked if a friend could spend the night and it happened to fall on the Saturday night before the Super Bowl, so I turned it into a quasi-Super Bowl party for Kyle and his buddy.I cooked ribs and bought several types of snacks and they watched the game and had a great time. The next year, I asked Kyle if he wanted to invite any friends over and he said no, but that he still wanted to have the good food and snacks. So, we started a little tradition of having a Super Bowl feast at home, even if it's the two of us. This year, we're going to make pizza, dirt cake (the crushed Oreos with cake and pudding) and root beer.
I've been invited to a few football parties over the years, and it always seems like the adults hang out in front of the television while the kids go off to play in their room or watch a movie. There's nothing wrong with this at all, but sometimes I wonder if it might be fun for the kids to have a little Super Bowl party of their own, especially if they're older and interested in football.
Where do you watch the Super Bowl? Do you include your kids in the party or is it just another Sunday at home?

Grilling out? Wow. You must be somewhere warm. I envy you. I'm in Michigan, where several inches of snow fell today. It's very cold.
Our family tradition is to make a large pot of chili and a large pot of chicken soup to enjoy on Superbowl Sunday.

Marylena, I live in southeast Texas, where we probably have 3 days of winter every year. It ranges between 50-60 F during the day right now.

We've hosted a couple of small superbowl parties but now that we have 2 young children, we just stay in and have fun by ourselves. We make way too much food and just generally have fun and relax. It's hard to do anything else with small kids because it's on a Sunday night.

I've never been much for the Super Bowl. Some friends of ours are having a party, though, so we're going, but mostly because it's a chance to hang out and get a bunch of people together, and have some adult conversation. I doubt we'll watch much of the game, but who knows. And yes, there will be kids there - at least our 2 and theirs.
