The best car seat ever?
Categories: Baby essentials
That seems to be the consensus at the firm of think/thing, and let's just say I'm very intrigued. Anyone who has dealt with wrangling a 30-pound toddler in and out of the car on a daily basis knows what a pain car seats can be. Right?Well, what if I told you there was a new car seat that you could tilt and swivel towards the car door with one hand? As well as providing side impact protection, minimum moving parts, retractable belts, removable seat pads and customizable colors and patterns? (OH YEAH, BABY.)
Take a second and watch the short video located in the "nestt" section of think/thing's website. The video alone has me chomping at the bit over here.
The only downer is that I have no idea when it will be available for the public OR the cost. I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Nice self promoting hype video. But let's see them actually put in/ take out a baby. THAT would have made for a useful video.
I have to say though, that the idea seems like genius.

It seems like a good idea, which means I'll never be able to afford it.
Kind of looks like the Jetson baby should be in there. . .

That's is the first thing I thought too... how funny. We just bought a new booster for my 5yr old so won't be needing this one but interesting concept.

I'm nervous to find out the cost of this, but I am soooo intrigued! Maybe this will open the market for other more design-conscious car seats??

What's really cool is if you remember that reality show about the inventions. There was a guy I think on season 2 that had the idea for this. He couldn't figure out the logistics to get it to work within the shows time frame, but I am so sure that is who is behind this. If I remember right he either had a friend's child or one of his own children had been killed in a car accident and he wanted to invent a car seat that could further protect a child from impact (especially by moving/swiveling). I also like the cool egg/orbit shape of the thing.

I thought the same thing when I saw this. I do believe it was his daughter that had gotten killed in an accident. I was so happy for him that he won that show and I was wondering when they would actually make the seats. Too bad my kids are both too old for a carseat like this.

Doesn't help that the baby in the video in a reg seat isn't even restrained properly eh??? Maybe that's how the other one died? NOTE TO ALL.. those CHEST clips, they go over the CHEST, not the stomach and the straps that go over the shoulders? They should be much tighter than this baby's are!

I think this is a really good idea, but I would have loved to see a baby being put in and removed from this carseat. I bet this car seat will be very expensive.
