Thai police: no sex on Valentine's Day

How do you celebrate Valentine's Day? For us consenting adult couples, this day of love might involve a box of chocolates, a nice dinner out and perhaps a little lovin' later on. For some teens in Thailand, however, you can skip the sentimental stuff and go straight for the sex. With polls showing that many Thai teens are planning to celebrate the day by doing the deed, Thai police are out in force working to foil those plans.

In addition to urging parents to keep a close eye on their teens today, the police are staking out shopping malls, motels and parks in an attempt to make things difficult for any would-be teenage lovers. "We will send patrols to check out public parks, restaurants and shopping malls, which are the starting points for potential sexual activities that will be done at home or motels," Bangkok police spokesman Suporn Pansuea said. Police plan to turn all the lights on in public parks and send "student inspectors" to see who is doing what in the local motels.

This has me wondering what kids in my town are planning for today. Perhaps I should ride around and break up any hand-holding teens I see wandering the around the mall.
