Product Recall: Infantino baby rattles

Categories: Shopping and recalls

Yesterday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 2,000 Infantino Lamb Grabby Rattles. Apparently, the little tail-piece on the rattle can detach and pose a choking hazard to young children. No injuries have been reported, but there have been eight reports of this happening.

The rattles were made in China for Infantino and sold at Wal-Mart, Babies "R" Us and other specialty stores nationwide from September 2007 through February 2008 for between $3 and $4.

The recalled rattles are shaped like a lamb and have the Infantino elliptical-shaped logo stamped on the right front food of the lamb. The recall only includes rattles with date code 0907 printed on the back of the left ear. The production batch code is printed in a dial format with the year in the middle of a circle and an arrow pointing to a number indicating the month. If your rattle doesn't have that date code, it is not included in the recall.

If you do have one of these rattles, you should immediately take it away from your child and contact Infantino for a replacement rattle or a product of equal value. You can reach them by calling (888) 808-3111 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT or by visiting their Web site.
