Charges dropped against Treffley Coyne
Categories: In The News
Treffley Coyne, the suburban Chicago mom charged with child abandonment for leaving her sleeping 2-year-old in a locked car while she escorted other children to a Salvation Army Kettle a few feet away, had all charges against her dropped.
Assistant State's Atty. Peggy Gill-Curtin told the judge that the state was dropping the case because "based on the completed investigation into all the facts of the case, the state has concluded it would be unable to meet the burden of proof at trial."
The wording on the Illinois law is so vague, leaving a child under the age of 14 alone in a car to return a shopping cart to a cart corral could be considered abandonment.
I bet this isn't the last we see or hear of Treffley Coyne. She's an Oprah show ratings bonanza just waiting to happen AND she's already in the area!

Peggy Gill-Curtin is an absolute idiot. No common sense what-so-ever. To even consider bringing charges against a woman who is no more than 30 feet from her sleeping child is irresponsible and just plain wrong. Who are these meddling, do-gooders who are getting WAY over involved in our lives? Coyne had every right to be uncooperative with people who had stepped WAY over their boundaries in "protecting" our children from good parents. Shame on the whole bunch of you!!!
