Elizabeth Smart speaks up
Categories: Safety, In The News, Gadgets & Tech
Kidnapped from her own bedroom at age 15 and forced to live with her abductors for nine months, Elizabeth Smart and her family have lived every parent's nightmare. Today Elizabeth is a 20-year-old college student at BYU, and says that though she wants to move forward with her life, she has no qualms about testifying against her abductors if they ever come to trial. Doing so, she says, would protect her and any other potential victims out there.
This week marks five years since Elizabeth was found and rescued, and she's taking the opportunity to speak out about her experience and to lobby for legislation coined Not One More Child. The program would provide funding to law enforcement agencies to locate criminals who traffic child pornography.
Elizabeth has partnered with the Justice Department to author a book about her life as a kidnapping survivor, presumably to help others who are in a similar situation. Best of luck to you Elizabeth...you deserve it.

Hers was a story I am sure we all watched, breath held and hearts in our hands. I am so happy to hear she is adjusting so well and is an advocate.
