One of the blessings of the Hollywood baby boom has been the willingness of famous parents to keep it real. I've always loved Aussie actress Naomi Watts, and now I like her even more. During her recent interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Naomi revealed her secret for quieting her seven-month-old son Alexander during a flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles: stick a boob in his mouth.
Apparently little Alexander wasn't happy to board the flight, even though he was sitting in first class. Naomi noted that she started getting "glaring eyes" (an expression easily recognized by any parent) from the other passengers, so she decided to soothe her son by breastfeeding.
"He's too young for drugs. So I just put him on the boob," she said.
I know a lot of men who will now want to sit next to her on an airplane and whine, hoping for the same treatment.

Jenna said...Really? Did you just take it there? When all she was doing was what every other breastfeeding mother would have done? You say you're impressed with her keeping it real but then you make such a crude comment?
Ugh. And we wonder why breastfeeding is so attached to sexuality that mothers are given a hard time. It's perpetuated by women themselves! UGH!

Mel said...Chill, you guys. It's called adding flavor to your writing. The writer didn't quite literally mean that men want to suck milk out of lactating breasts. And certainly she didn't imply, as Jenna accused, that boobs are only good for sex. It was just a sarcastic comment to add some flavor to the post! Not everyone takes their beliefs to such an adroid-like extreme. It IS ok to use humor sometimes, ya know.
The indignance is laughable. I'm sorry that you all live a perpetually offended existence.
