Product Recall: Magtastik Pre-school Magnetic Toys

In addition to the 1.3 million MagnaMan Magnetic Action Figures recalled today, the CPSC has also announced the recall of about 1.1 million MEGA Brands' Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. Pre-School Magnetic Toys. Just like the action figures, the toys have magnets in them that can detach and pose aspiration and intestinal hazards to children. MEGA Brands and CPSC have received 19 reports of magnets coming loose, one which resulted in a 3-year-old boy receiving medical treatment to remove a magnet from his nasal cavity.
The Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. Pre-school Magnetic Toys include small flexible parts embedded with magnets that allow the parts to connect to large, colored metal balls. Pictures and model numbers of each of the recalled pieces can be found on the CPSC Website.
If you have these toys, you are advised to immediately stop using them and return them to MEGA Brands for a free replacement toy. You can reach them by calling (800) 779-7122 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by visiting their Web site.
