Ashlee Simpson pregnant?

Not even a week after Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz announced their engagement, both Ok! and US Weekly claimed to have exclusive scoops that the couple was also expecting a baby.

According to unnamed sources the couple is "over the moon" about the baby.

However, a spokesperson for the couple was a little less forthcoming. "We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple, beyond that there is nothing to say."

Pete Wentz went as far as to send an email to MTV News that read, "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover ... I mean really, this is crazy ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it."

It seems like too much ado to be over nothing, so I'm guessing there really IS a bun in the oven and Ashlee and Pete were just hoping to keep it quiet. What do you think?
