Name your baby "Crunch", win $25,000

Categories: Newborns, Weird but true, That's entertainment

When naming your baby, it is important choose carefully. Your child is unique and while you may want his or her name to reflect that, you also don't want to get too crazy. An odd first name can result in a lifetime of teasing for that child and no parent wants that. But what about the middle name? Because it is seldom used, it offers the opportunity to get a little bit creative. Go ahead and honor Uncle Festus - nobody will ever know. Always thought Sugar sounded kind of sweet? Go for it!

If you really are open to an unusual middle name and are due to give birth in May, here's another option: Crunch. Like that delicious Vlasic pickle you've been craving.

May is National Pickle Month and Vlasic is sponsoring a contest for May-born babies. Entry is pretty straightforward: if you give birth in May, simply write a 50-100 word essay on why your baby should be the Vlasic Stork baby. Include the date of birth, sex, height and weight along with a photo and send it to Vlasic. The winner of a $20,000 savings bond will be selected based on creativity and adherence to the theme. And here's where it gets interesting: give your baby "Crunch" for a middle name and if you win, Vlasic will up the prize to a $25,000 savings bond.

Is it worth an extra $5,000 to saddle your child with a pickle-inspired middle name? I am thinking no, but that's just me. Times are tough and money is tight. You do what you have to do. Good luck!
