Tom Cruise's son-coming soon to a theater near you
Categories: Celeb Kids
Connor Cruise, who is no stranger to Hollywood, has been selected to play the young version of Will Smith in the upcoming movie Seven Pounds.
Although raised by celebrity superstars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, who between them have 6 Golden Globes Awards, an Academy Award, and numerous nominations, this is the thirteen-year-old's first time being behind the cameras himself. According to his proud father, Conner had to audition and won the role all on his own.
Huh. I'm sure the fact that his father is really good friends with Will Smith had nothing at all to do with getting the job.

Um... ok. Why couldn't Will's son have played his dad? I'm like you, I'm sure his dad had nothing to do with him getting the job. (note sarcasm)

"Behind the cameras...."? You mean in FRONT of the cameras. =)

What strikes me about this is that Tom Cruise loves to talk about how he doesn't see his non-white kid's color, which is a dumb thing to say anyway, but then of course the kid wouldn't have gotten this part if this he did not have that skin color.

I believe him, if the kid tried out himself and got the role himself then that's what happened. I'm sure like any parent they encourage their children to be go-getters and that is great. Instead of being judgemental we should be happy for the kid and offer our congrats.

Even if it was easier (and who of us can truly know that for pete's sake?) for him to get the job because Tom Cruise is his father, it in no way means he isn't talented or capable or doesn't deserve to be treated or talked about on his own merits.
