Hannah Montana star also a SATC fan
Categories: Celeb Kids
If the suggestive and unusually close father/daughter Vanity Fair photos didn't raise eyebrows high enough, people finally getting past the pictures and reading the interview were in for another suprise. The fifteen-year-old star of the inexplicably popular children's show Hannah Montana has completely different television habits than her fans. According to Miley, her favorite show is Sex and The City.
Sources later shared that Miley watches the cleaned up TBS version of the show and not the more graphic and profane HBO version, but I've seen both and neither is anything I'd let my kids watch.
I know she's just fifteen, but I can't believe Miley, who can sell out a concert in three minutes is that oblivious to her status among young girls. All these little fans need to do is google "Miley Cyrus" and they'll find the name of this nifty new show about friends(!) that Hannah Montana says is her favorite and then figure out a way past those pesky parents who won't let them watch it.

You know this is ridiculous..all of this fuss over a 15 yr old girl. when i was in my teens, Moesha, was pretty much the only teen on television of color that i was supposed to identify with, and i could not relate b/c everything she did was PERFECT...her character on television and the image she projected in the media. If i had a teen daughther (my son is 4) I would prefer her to have a girl like Miley in the media whose makes mistakes but seems to be generally a good girl, so that she can know that no we are not perfect beings, we will mistakes, the important part is how we handle those mistakes.

She didn't sign up to be a role model, she just wants to be famous. At 15 you really shouldn't expect her to have more of a moral sense than that... she's supposed to make mistakes, supposed to be a bit selfish, supposed to be, yes, oblivious. A teenager watching Sex in the City is hardly running amok. If you don't like it, and by it I mean EITHER Hannah Montana or Sex in the City... really simple, don't let your kid watch it... or google without supervision for that matter.

I find this post just mean. Did you not make mistakes and do dumb, thoughtless things at age 15? Of course you did! We all did. As far as her watching Sex and the City - I agree that it's not an appropriate show for her age, but that is up to her parents. Just like every other parent out there can decide whether or not they want their daughters watching Hannah Montana.

I think this is all crazy! Teenage girls are always going to want to watch the 'grown up' shows because like it or not at fifteen most of us believed we knew EVERYTHING and that we were grown up. And just because she has become a role model for girls does not mean that she has to be perfect and gives answers that are going to please parents. If people don't like her don't let your kids watch her, although she's a heck of a lot better role model than some other pop sensations turned out to be.

I swear at fifteen I was thinking about BOYS and SEX adn like to watch all the 'grown up' tv including stuff like LA law and the like.
If you think just cause she doesn't say out loud she likes shows like that means that other fifteen year olds aren't watchin them too - you may want to lock your kids in the basement less you prepare your self to be disappointed.
Kids are sexually aware by age ten - whether we see it or not. I plan to assume as much and start making my points about sex and my expectations for my girls by age seven, so I don't have to be surprised by them loving a badly edited Carrie and company.
Thats all above and beyond the fact of why do we even CARE. Shes just fifteen...
