Prom dress gets student arrested

That's right--she didn't get banned from the prom or kicked out of school--she was actually arrested! Marche Taylor was escorted from the prom in handcuffs after she appeared on the premises in a scantily-clad outfit that served as her prom dress. And, to answer your question, yes, you would see nipple.
It's been a long time since I've been to a prom, so I can hardly say what's acceptable and what not, but after checking out the duds I have to say it seems a little...well, too little! Marche didn't actually make it into the event, and was stopped in the lobby of the local Marriott before she was able to get into the actual prom.
Taylor was advised she'd violated school dress code. After she offered to cover up she was still denied entry into the prom. According to Taylor, her choices were few: go to jail or go home. Luckily, she wasn't charged and was eventually released.
It's sad to hear of a young woman denied the chance to attend what should be one of a teen's most memorable experiences. While prom is never the way we expect it to be, I hardly think Marche Taylor could have imagined her evening would turn out that way. I imagine the chaperones who saw her dress weren't expecting that either!

She didn't get arrested because of the dress. She got arrested for refusing to leave when she was asked and for creating a scene when she argued about it.
As far as that dress goes, where were her parents? I can't believe any mother would allow their daughter out of the house looking like that. Three strategically placed band aids covered in glitter would have covered just as much as that dress.

I don't know how her parent-or parents allowed her out like that! They had to have seen her. This is no prom dress I would deem appropriate at any age level, it is obscene! It also goes against all the other students at prom who followed to rules, and dressed appropriately . The girl knew she would be just where she is now, on the front page. I guess this will jump start her career in the pole dancing circuit! LOL

She was arrested because things got heated NOT because she wore that dress. Her mother should've been arrested for letting her go out like that. My husband graduated from that school and since he had graduated ('96) it's gotten out of hand how children in that area dress and act. He said it wasn't that bad when he lived there but even his grandparents had to move out of that area because parents just were not caring how their children were carrying themselves. Some care but are either too lazy or scared to do anything. Anyway, just wanted to clarify that why she was arrested.

We should all be allowed to go naked if we want. There is nothing wrong with the human body.We all have one.

If it looks like a whore, and smells like a whore, she's a whore. What is wrong with a "normal" prom dress? I know, she was looking for her next baby's daddy and her free tickets to Maury!!!

I am a parent and I am so tired of the attitude of entitlement that seems so prevalent among this generation of children. The rules were made very clear and yet this young lady felt "entitled" to do whatever she wanted. I regret that the situation escalated to the point of her being arrested, but if she would have gone by the rules that were in place for EVERYONE it would have never happened to begin with. And I'm tired of the parents always being blamed because some kids are doggedly determined to do things their way no matter what...and in those cases sometimes the young person has to learn life the hard way.

I completely agree with the school. That dress was totally inappropriate to wear to a high school function. If that girl wants to wear something like that, then wait until she is out of school and go to a dance when she is an actual adult.
Furthermore, what was the mother thinking in allowing her daughter to get a dress like that? Does she want her daughter to become a victim of a crime? I would NEVER let my daughter dress like that even when she is out of school. That dress belongs with the the prostitutes that are out there. Cover up and follow the rules!

I saw this on TV and wondered WHERE WERE HER PARENTS, I assume that she has them. As a mom, I would never let my daughter out dressed like that. My Local TV station was laughing so hard when this aired, rightly so. How stupid can this girl be to not see that this "dress" was not authorized. Her "dress" was dental floss and some bandaids. Her "parent/s" should be held responsible for child endangerment.
Dressed as she is she was asking for some attention, inappropate attention. The Hookers I see on tv seem to wear more than she did. Even the ones we see on the streets are better dressed.
I feel that school was so right to not allow her admission to the prom. You break the rules you pay for it. Giving her the media to tell her story is helping her, look like a fool

There is only one place you take a girl dressed like that and its not to the prom. I do not know if it was mentioned in the report but she stated that she also was not wearing any undergarments. Guess that would make it even more slutty.
Mom how can you let your daughter go out like that!

In another video, she mentions the undergarments, but I think the teacher was referring to a bra because Marche states that she was wearing them...

SHE SAID "E'RYONE LIKED-ED" IT AND NO ONE "AXED" ME.... BLAH BLAH BLAH - HOW IN GOD'S GREEN EARTH DID SHE EVEN MAKE IT TO PROM? I THINK WE NEED TO FOCUS ON CHILDREN NOT GETTING A PROPER EDUCATION - PROM IS A PRIVILEDGE NOT A REQUIREMENT. AND WHAT THE HECK IS THAT A 4 INCH RIBBON WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK AND CHEST? COME ON PEOPLE! TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN OUR FUTURE! GOD HELP US!

That was my point on my last response (5/13/08). The girl/woman can't even speak correctly! I'm not talking southern accents...I'm talking SPEAKING ENGLISH. If she's as stupid as she appears on TV, someone should investigate the (lack of) parenting and the (lack of) teaching in her school.

When did proms become the grand opportunity to "slut-it-up"? Its supposed to be a celebration of accomplishments, not T&A. What are her parents like that they said it was okay? I just gotta shake my head.

These broads who said she could not attend the dance only wish they look that good. And if there were any males who said she could not attend the prom would have no problem in private with her sitting on there face!!
For a school of higher education there very stupid. But most schools are!!

This is no surprise. Hey, the guys wear their pants so low that the underwear and a..crack show. Good taste has gone the way of cheap gas. I vote for school uniforms and strict dress codes. As for the parents who allow and condone this, well.......

Where were the fashion police when that gaudy thing was allowed out for sale? She shouldn't have been allowed to attend, that's totally disgusting.................Where were her parents? probably out on the park bench smoking crack and meth.......... so SAD, she got what she deserved............ that's far from "Prom Attire"

In places where prostitution is legal or runs unchecked, the prostitutes dress like that. Here in New Jersey, the North Bergen/Fairview area of the U.S. 1&9 used to be like that...Guys not even looking to picking something up would cruise by just to see the 'show'!! It was outrageous and I'm sure caused alot of accidents.
