A girl for Jamie Lynn!

Bring on the pink, Auntie Brit-Brit!
Jamie Lynn Spears, star of Zoey 101 and her fiance Casey Aldridge became proud parents to a baby daughter, Maddie Briann, around 9:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss.
The bundle of sugar and spice weighed in at 7lbs, 11ozs, which is pretty impressive given Jamie Lynn's petite frame! Both mother and baby are said to be doing well.
Here's hoping little Maddie (who is the first granddaughter for grandparents Jamie and Lynn Spears and will no doubt be adored her her Spears cousins Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James 1) signifies the start of healthier and happier times for the entire Spears clan.
Goodness knows that family has been through enough head-shaving, umbrella waving, baby dropping, car smashing, crotch flashing times to last a lifetime!

Congratulations to Jamie-Lynn and Casey Aldridge on their little girl Maddie.
Zoe 101 is one my daughter's favorite show - it almost feels like Jamie-Lynn is someone we know!
Can't wait to see their baby photos.

What does watching reruns of a tv show that has a positive message have to do with having a bad influence on my daughter?
Of course we discussed what happened to Jamie-Lynn and issues around teenage pregnancy.

I had Parent Dish on my homepage, its gone now. I wish I would have known they would be covering HER I would have never read it in the first place. Its no wonder our country is falling apart, look at what people are teaching their kids. This stupid lil girl got herself knocked up, and yet.. there are no consequences for this.. CHILD. I have completly blocked ALL Nick shows for the sole reason, they are a bad influence... ignorant company. First, they had a pedaphile working for them(check dateline NBC) and now they promote a child having a baby. When is all this stuff going to end? When are we going to step up and take responsablity for our childrens' actions? When are you going to stop being your child's friend, worrying about popularity contests and start acting as their parent, their teacher, and ROLE MODEL.

While I don't love the idea of a teen getting pregnant, it is 2008 now, what exactly are the consequences supposed to be? She didn't kill anyone, wasn't caught doing drugs, no one is going to be paying for this baby but her, so really there is nothing to be done. All we need to stress to our children is that it is a special situation for Jamie and that it's not how it would be for you or I. As for "promoting" I think a better word would be "supporting", again it is 2008, if she is taking responsibility and it seems she is then I think that it is shown she is not exactly a child but an adult with a baby. You really did hit the nail on the head, the PARENT is the role model NOT some teenage girl on t.v.

I think it is wonderful she had a healthy baby. There is no reason we should act like this little baby Maddie did anything wrong. She still deserves the attention for being born. And don't judge Jamie-Lynn for her activities--she just happened to get pregnant. The other girls on tv that are her age could be having sex too. I know most girls in my high school had sex around 16 or 17 years old. She is human and has said she does not endorse little girls having sex or having babies. She told them to wait. That being said, we need to remember she has been put through a lot of criticism and has been publicly made fun of. She made a mistake that many others make (my mom was one of those people), so I definitely will give her another chance to be a role model.

Yep, she made a mistake and has to live with it the rest of her life. Millions of kids make the same mistake and many do the wrong thing with that mistake. She seems to at least be handling it correctly so far.
It just seems to be a pretty big problem in our country at this time. Did you all read about the high school girls with the pregnancy pact? Crazy.
I recently saw a commercial for this show Baby Borrowers, which seems to have a pretty good message. Hopefully it will wake some teens up.

Congrats to Jamie Lynn. I do not like how other people get in her business. She is a young what makes her any different with the other teens. Is it because she is famous? Because she is the spotlight? Ignorant People leave her alone. I was 18 when I had my daughter, we struggle and she will see how much it is to handle an infant in the middle of the night

I must say, some of the comments on here are very disturbing. Ruining her life? She is not a role model because she had a baby?? She is a beautiful young lady, who in your opinion had a child too young. Do you know her financial situation? Is the father around? Do her parents support her? Are you KIDDING me right now?
Lets look at it like this, as parents we are to teach our children by example. Instead of bashing this young mother, teach your children about the struggles that she faces and discourage your child from premarital sex. That is being a true role model, and letting your child see that her life is going to change is being a responsible parent. Bashing a child for having a baby makes you no less of a role model than you say Ms. Jaime Lynn is.
This is just my opinion, but if you think your kids aren't having sex, or at least thinking about you-- YOU should realize that this isnt the 1980's. Most teenagers are not virgins when they graduate high school.
So I say, Congratulations Jaime Lynn. I hope your child grows up happy and healthy.
