Pregnant burglars leave toddler at scene of crime
Categories: Toddlers, In The News, Weird But True
Most parents try to protect their children from criminal activity, but in a brazen attempt to burglarize an apartment while its tenants were still at home, two pregnant women put one of the women's toddlers right in the middle of the crime... and then abandoned him.
A 20-year-old woman and a pregnant teen climbed into the bedroom window of an apartment, with the two-year-old in tow. When the apartment's residents confronted the women, they fled, leaving the child behind. The women are now being charged with robbery and larceny, but the 20-year-old mother will face child abuse charges as well.
For the sake of this poor little boy, as well as the sibling that will be born in a few months, I hope these moms find the help they need to get back on track. Two-year-olds belong on a swing set, not a crime scene.

This is horrible, how could any burglarize a place to begin with. We HONEST parents work dang hard for what we have, only to have a spoiled lazy person come along and take take take what they want. I hope these girls spend time behind bars and the kids find good homes. They deserve MUCH better!

how desperate do you have to be to carry a two year old around while you climb in a window??? Bet these ladies are marginally employed, at best, and hanging on to their apartments by a thread.
Sekhmet 8-11-2008 @ 2:15PM
Oh but wait! What good mothers these ladies were they did not abort their children to get an education.

True...but I think she obviously decided to live off the welfare system, instead of going after that college education....

So if they got abortions they definitely would've opted for education? That's a little bit of a logical stretch, dontcha think? Something tells me the last thing on either of these ladies' minds was education. It doesn't even sound like the robbery attempt was well planned (not that I condone it or anything). What these women need is a swift "education" in putting their children's wellbeing, or for that matter *anybody's* wellbeing before their own.

AMEN BROTHER!

Clearly this poor little boy will likely follow in his mother's footsteps and become just a number in our already overcrowded penal system!! When will we stop condoning teenagers having babies that they obviously are not able to take care of in the first place??

You are sooooooo right! Product of his environment. I feel so sorry for kids like this. Breaks my heart!

Don't jugde me by what these women did. I married young, still married and have 3 boys of our own and have raised 8 total and are now caring for a 1 and a 3 year olds. I am 38. My eldest son is 23. It has nothing to do with your age. It has to do with your value system.

Again? Why does everybody assume that teenagers can't take care of their kids? I happen to be friends with a girl that got pregnant at 16 and is now 18. She's one of the best damn moms I Know. She had her baby and grew up knowing that she had to put her little girl first. Now she's going on her second year of college and entering nursing school, she's a great example of what can still be accomplished when you have an unplanned baby at a young age.

They are lucky the tennants of the apartment didn't shoot at them or harm their child. The poor kid was probably scarred from the incident. I hope someone follows up on him for a couple of years to ensure he's in a safe environment even if it means taking him away from his mom, which I'm not a fan of.

Amazing how our young mothers are acting, First by opening their legs when they are 15, having a child with-out a father or one that is in prison, thinking that it is their parents fault, which it just might be ? because a child who is allowed to do as they please, will always end up on the short end of the stick. I know when I was a young person I thought I knew everything, But to take your child with you to do a crime, she must have had a good reason to do that, but to leave him, the only thing I can say the DRUGS must be good for her to even think like that.

uhh, what makes you think she 'opened her legs at 15'?? it didn't say that the kid was five, it could of been one or two which means she would of had sex at 18 or 19
i mean, it doesn't really matter, they are morons for bringing a kid to a robbery, i mean couldn't they of left the kid at their apartment, it would of been better than leaving it in someone elses.....

Young Mothers?? What about the young father's that took advantage of the open legs?? Why is it always the females fault? It takes 2 to make a baby. Having a child without a father? What the heck are they supposed to do once they are pregnant and the scumbag father decides to get himself arrested or just leaves because for some reason many deadbeat dads think because the child doesn't come out of them then parenthood is optional. geez. I think it's a little too much to just automatically assume you know what this girl's situation is. Drugs? Maybe. Deadbeat or non-existent dad? maybe. Pregnant at 15? Not necessarily. Doesn't matter the situation what she did was wrong plain and simple don't talk about how she got her kid and if she's on drugs. She could be some little rich girl looking for a thrill.

I understand where each of you are comming I live in Atlanta, Ga. & it is where I see all these babies having babies if the parents or the single mother would set good examplys to their children then things like this would not happen, But when you are a mother at 15 a grand mother at 30 and a great-grandmother by 40 what is a person to think ??? I know that it takes two to make a baby, but there is a word to stop that "NO" or "I wish to wait" I'm not sure if every-one reallizes that HIV/AIDS is on the rise in the youth today and 40% of the known cases are young girls with babies and as for the dead-beat fathers if they stayed in school and got an education instead of trying to be a thug and sell drugs none of this would ever happen, People just don't understaned that when a young man goes to prison chances are they will have sex and catch HIV/AIDS we can not cover that up THERE IS SEX GOING ON IN PRISON. and when this happens it never gets talked about, But it is real and it does happen !!! men having sex with men is as old as prostitution America need to wake-up and smell the roses.

Dumb and dumber need to have their kids taken away permanently. I mean climbing though a window for her own selfish reasons and with the peolpe being home what if the homeowners had a gun and shot and kill one of the unborn babies or the toddler. Some people do not deserve to have children. I have two beatiful girls they mean the world to me and I would NEVER put them in harms way. These lady do not love these kids they are probably welfare money to them.

So true. I have a daughter. She is the light of my life! I would never do anything to put her in harms way because I love her so much. Hard to believe that mother could love her little boy, to do what she did. But unfortunately if they take the kid away from these unfeeling moms, they'll probably end up in a foster home. Which is the lessor of two evils? I hate stories like this.
