Daily Dish -- Brush away the dirty teeth monsters
Filed under: Toddlers Preschoolers, Health & Safety: Babies
Little kids don't always like to have their teeth brushed. Get through this necessary task with a little creativity.
Teeth brushing was never my toddler's favorite time of day. She'd squirm and cry and pull away, making it a dreaded chore every day. We changed all that recently when her big sister encouraged her to "get rid of all those dirty teeth monsters." Leave it to kids to make a parent's job easier!
Now at teeth brushing time, I take a very close look in her mouth before I start. Then, looking apprehensive, I dive in and scrub all those monsters away. She loves the funny faces I make and shouts at me to "catch the blue ones first!" When we're done, we pull out the magnifying glass to make sure that we've gotten them all.
Lesson learned, for me, that sometimes a difficult parenting task can be handled by just making things a little more fun.
