Pedophile taken down by mom and a lead pipe

It's a terrifying scenario, but given the ability, I think it would play out about the same for each of us. Wendy Nelson's ten-year-old daughter was playing at a local playground when a man tried to take her clothes off and abduct her. Mrs. Nelson was sitting on her steps while her daughter played with friends, but when she called for her daughter to come in, the girl came running home crying."She said, 'That man tried to take off my pants,'" Nelson said. The man also allegedly asked the girl to stay overnight at his house. Nelson went after the man and told him she was going to call the police; while she was walking away, the suspect attacked her with a knife, stabbing her twice in the neck. Nelson grabbed a piece of pipe and fought back. Her son, seventeen-year-old Brendon, came to help and was cut on the side of his head.
Mrs. Nelson managed to knock the man to the ground and, while her son took the man's knife, hit him twice in the head with the pipe. Police say the man will probably face charges after he gets out of the hospital. Nelson, too, may be charged, although that's not a consequence she worried about. "I don't really care because I did what I had to do," she said. I can definitely understand that and would have to say that if someone tried that with my daughter, chances are, they wouldn't get off so easily.

this guy's lucky the mom didn't put the pipe THROUGH his head instead of just whacking him with it.
as far as the mom facing charges...no way any prosecutor is dumb enough to take that case.

Um yeah, after I got stabbed, I would have a tendency to DEFEND myself.
I think anyone who would convict this woman should get a pipe to the head.

I don't think any charges against her will stick. I could be mistaken, but I think she was well within her rights to wack him with a pole after he stabbed her.
There are some who criticize me for carrying a handgun. I don't leave home without it. If The Law had a problem with me doing so, they wouldn't have granted me a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
I get some stupid comments from some, such as "What if a child got into your car and shot themselves?" If I am not in the car, neither is the gun. No, my children aren't going to bother it. They are 8 and 10. There are many things they do not know, but they do know to NEVER touch Mom or Dad's gun.

I agree with Ame S. If the woman only hit the man with a pipe after he stabbed her and tried to get her daughter then she was fighting back in self defense. She didn't just go and beat him. I'm glad that she and her family are okay and I hope that man goes to jail not only for what he did to the little girl, but for what he did to the mother and son.

What!? Why would the mom be charged too? She was protecting her daughter and only attacked after he stabbed her. I would have done the same for my son.

I have to agree with all of you. It is sad and pathetic how people are these days. They want to think or carry out punishing the victims, and then they punish the attacker, but usually to a lesser point. I know I was raped and the guy didn't get jail time just 50 hours community service and 12 months probation. I guess all you can do now is pray for these prosecutors and officers to wake up and defend the innocent a little better. Personally me that mother and son let that man off easily. If It was me, he would probably be on life support or in the ground. Way to go mom and son! Best wishes to you all and I hope your little girl will mentally recover from this.
