Tooth fairy affected by bad economy

The economy is bad these days, and budgets are tight. Everyone is cutting back on extras -- for families of small kids, this can mean an end to take out food, new toys, and Saturday night baby sitters.
But has the Tooth Fairy felt the crunch at your house?
According to an article in the Telegraph, Tooth Fairy payouts have fallen in the UK in the past six months, from an average of just over $2.00 to just over $1.50. Of course, that's still more than most of us got for our teeth, all those years ago. I seem to recall being excited about finding a quarter under my pillow. I guess the Tooth Fairy wasn't so generous in the 1970s.
Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, was optimistic about the Tooth Fairy's financial situation, though. "Hopefully the tooth fairy can weather the current economic climate and we'll see her return to top form soon."

Oh, that is kind of funny. You never think about the little things when it comes to big problems like the economy is down. I would never have thought about how maybe the "tooth fairy" is giving less these days. Well, the average is still higher than what I got when I was younger and I am just in college!

My kids always got one dallor per tooth. On night my son lost his tooth down the sink's drain so I told him to write the tooth fairy a letter and put it under his pillow. Than night I went into his room took the note and left a dollar then I read the note in which he lied to the tooth fairy and told her he lost two teeth.

Shucks, that quarter in the 70's was probably worth about 8 bucks with today's weak a** dollar.

$5.00 a tooth for all my kids, which goes into the tooth bank (ea has one) and when it is full-half in savings and half for spending

I gave my son $5 for the first tooth and he lost his 2nd tooth after it came out. I had planned on giving him $1 for each subsequent tooth.

Just cut out some of the beer or renting a movie or whatever
makes your day and give it to the kid.

That's a heck of a lot more than I got! Even in the 80's when I was a kid, all I ever got for my teeth was DIMES! Hopefully the trend will reverse itself when my kids (ages 1 and 6) start losing their teeth! Still in preliminary negotiations with the Tooth Fairy over that one...will let you know how that turns out!

LMAO. Basic financial literacy is lacking at all socio-economic levels. One of the best books you'll ever find about finance is "How to Become Filthy Rich on Your Current Income" at www.how-to-become-rich.com. If people read books like this one the tooth fairy could keep dishing the cash and offering cost of living increases.

Two dollars or more? For a loose tooth that fell out?
We were lucky to get a dime (a quarter for a molar!) back in the mid-60s.
I was amazed when I received lace hankerchiefs that had ten pennies tied up in one corner one time. I couldn't figure out how the Tooth Fairy carried that heavy mess (haha)...

Tooth fairies, easter bunnies, and santa clause, why continue lying to childern? Isn't this teaching childern it's ok to lie, as long as, you can "justfy" the reason?
