Jerry O'Connell calls pregnant wife Rebecca Romijn "huge"
Some men complain that women are hard to understand. But here's a simple, easy rule that husband Jerry O'Connell -- husband of Rebecca Romijn, who is pregnant -- learned the hard way: Don't call your wife "huge," even if she's carrying twins, and especially not on national TV.
Jerry was joking with funny man Conan O'Brien, himself a dad of two, on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Jerry told Conan, "I will look at her, and I will go, 'My goodness... you are huge!'" Conan, aware of the very deep and dangerous pile Jerry had just stepped quickly tried to distance himself from Jerry, saying, "I just say [to wife Liza], 'Baby, you look beautiful... You don't say, 'Oh, you're huge!'"
Though it was all in good fun, a repentant Jerry issued a statement the next day: "I regret calling my wife huge on Conan O'Brien. I meant to say there are specific parts of my wife that are larger and growing every day. All other portions of my wife are quite petite. I apologize to her and will be coming home with flowers."
Keep digging, Jerry. Keep digging. The couple are expecting twin girls in January, so if putting his foot in his mouth hasn't taught Jerry his lesson yet, life with three women in the house will.

Ronald Lee Jones said...Jerry O'Connell is all right by me! Damn, he married Rebecca Romign for goodness sake. Can any man imagine the porntastic fun he had impregnating his wife with his twins? I watched the segment on Conan when Jerry made his comment. I absolutely vibed with him, realizing that he was talking about his wife's breasts.
People are so eager to pounce on anything, and anyone, these days. Lighten up, people. I bet Rebecca was fine with his comment. She IS a comedic actress, you know, who seems to have a very large sense of humor.
Peace, in the Middle East!

GROW UP, JERRY!!!

Ronald Lee Jones said...I'll make this simple and short. I recently commented on the discriptive comment Jerry O'Connell made about his pregnant wife on Conan O'Brian a few nights ago. Like any straight man, I know that Rebecca Romign is one beautiful woman. I have lusted over her, like thousands of men have, for years. I began to respect her as an actress with a sence of humor when she appeared on JUST SHOOT ME opposite David Spade's character. I then caught several of her media interviews. She is quick to smile, quick to joke about herself, and quick to talk about love.
That's more than I can say for the twenty or so man hating bitches that have emailed me in the past couple of days, yelling at me about my little blog message. I mean, good god, women. Yes, I am a freakin' man. Yes, you hate the phrase PEASE IN THE MIDDLE EAST! Yes, I tried to project my mind into Jerry O'Connell's home-life for a moment, for the sake of the argument. Don't you castrating chicks know how men think? Damn, suck on an ice cube!
There are two kinds of women on earth -- those who want to understand men so that they can get along with us and those who just don't give a crap about what makes men tick. Women who understand that their fathers and their brothers and the other men in their lives are simple creatures who mostly want what men want, plus to be left alone with their sports and things when they want to be left alone with their sports and things will almost, to a woman, get along with their men. Prime example, don't you ever bitch about your man's football obsession. Just watch the goddamn game with him. Or at least learn the name of his favorite team's quarterback. You'll blow his mind.
The woman who bitches at her man, complains about the books he likes to read, whines about his golf, or his basketball, or whatever his obsession is, complains about his need for sex -- and for most men it is a need -- gets offended when he comments about A WOMAN WHO LIVES THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY FROM WHERE YOU LIVE... A WOMAN HE WILL NEVER MEET IN REAL LIFE -- if you are that kind of woman, the kind who will read a couple of simple lines of text in which a man is visualizing Rebecca Romign, a woman who has appeared in countless print ads in bras and panties, and has even acted nude on film, if you are that woman who has to write me nasty letters for the absolutly tame content I wrote -- this is for you, "GOD HELP THE MAN TRAPPED IN YOUR VORTEX HELL! YOU'RE PROBABLY A STIFF AS A BOARD REPUBLICAN! YOU CAN KISS MY BLACK ASS.
Otherwise, I love women! I have never fought with women face to face because that is a battle I know I can not win. God bless American women, god bless American women getting along with American men, and God bless Rebecca Romign for being one fine American woman married to one lucky American dude!
I'm done... for now!

Debbie said...Oh please, he was being playful! And it is okay if you are huge when you are pregnant, especially if you are carrying twins. What is more problematic is the women with "pregorexia" who are too concerned with their weight.
I was obese as a kid and always have to watch what I eat. When I was pregnant, I let myself enjoy what my body wanted and worried about the fall out later. I took the weight off after I had my baby and my baby was born a healthy 7 pounds 9 oz.
Being obese as a kid, weight is still an issue forme I am a weight counselor..not thin but normal and healthy with a healthy attitude towards food and dieting.
Here is some advice I give my reg clients:
Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you can't be
perfect in your eating don't make the day a wash and start
"tomorrow".
Try to eat something you truly enjoy every day.
Try to eat tomatoes in some form..lycopene is great for all
especially men!
Get a pedometer and try to walk 10,000 steps a day.
If you don't get enough fruits and veggies take a good multi vitamin.
Try to get exercise in when you can. I have read about smartsoles on
many aol boards and they actually work, they increase calories burned
with each step and tone muscles http://www.smartsole.com
Join a support group to discuss food issues. I have found that good
old fashioned weight watchers truly is the best and not expensive.
http://www.weightwatchers.com
And the best thing I did for myself as a single woman is get a pet.
It has reduced stress for me and added to my happiness.
Try not to eat your heaviest meal too late.
Again all are "tries". nobody is perfect!
Oh, there is a code I found for Smartsoles that give you 15% off. It is SMART15

You are right on with your advise. Bravo! I was never overweight, but I suffered from a severe eating disorder as a teen and now still have some issues with weight. I am in the fitness business and allways remind my clients that food should never be an enemy nor an obsession. I totally agree that everyone should eat something they love each day. It's the starving and the angst people have over food that causes problems.
I feel very in tuned and sensitive to issues regarding women and looks. It's more than just weight too. I remember being in my teens and having role models that were smart, driven, funny, kind etc but now all we see are drop dead gorgeous women with no flaws. If I were young today I'd be really worried. Are there any forums or groups that are made up of women who have the same concerns as I do? I find that women in the 40 plus group tend to deny this is the case or they have given up completely. I'd love to find like minded women who have ideas on how to change all this.

HEIDI said...CALLING HER "HUGE" IS NOT A BIG DEAL AT ALL.. SHE IS HUGE, SHE'S CARRYING TWINS FOR GODS SAKE!! i'M SURE SHE DIDN'T TAKE IT TO HEART. AS FOR HER BEING PRETTY, SHE LOOKS MORE LIKE A MAN THAN A WOMAN. I AM BY FAR NOT A CATTY WOMAN, BUT THERE IS A REASON "UGLY BETTY" CHOSE HER FOR THAT TRANS-GENDER ROLE. A FACE LIKE A MAN!! STILL, CONGRATS TO BOTH OF THEM!

tiff jones said...speaking the truth and making a joke at your pregnant wife's expense on national television are 2 different things. U think she doesn't know how large she is getting? or isn't thinking - "i pray to god i don't have trouble losing all this weight after the babies are born"? While i agree that his comment didn't kill anyone and doesn't concern anyone but him, his wife, and PR people - i would like to think my significant other wouldn't do something similar at a dinner party...

Elaine said...It's NOT an insult to call a very pregnant woman "huge". At what point did American women become so paranoid that they are insulted even when they are big for a very healthy reason!? I have NO patience with people who are fat from simply overeating and under-exercizing, but it would be VERY unhealthy for a woman to try to stay fashionably thin while pregnant. Huge when NOT pregnant is Yuuugly!!! Huge while pregnant is beautiful! Big difference!

Any woman who is with child actually has a glow of beauty surrounding her! Even if she can't escalulate your man attitude, can't dress in anything except bigger clothes. Wake up idiot!
This is NOT something she did by herself! You are half the problem with your small mind and small....P envy...and I don't feel sorry for you!
If some of you men out there can't see it. Or even relate to it; your as blind as a bat!
