Jerry O'Connell calls pregnant wife Rebecca Romijn "huge"

Some men complain that women are hard to understand. But here's a simple, easy rule that husband Jerry O'Connell -- husband of Rebecca Romijn, who is pregnant -- learned the hard way: Don't call your wife "huge," even if she's carrying twins, and especially not on national TV.
Jerry was joking with funny man Conan O'Brien, himself a dad of two, on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Jerry told Conan, "I will look at her, and I will go, 'My goodness... you are huge!'" Conan, aware of the very deep and dangerous pile Jerry had just stepped quickly tried to distance himself from Jerry, saying, "I just say [to wife Liza], 'Baby, you look beautiful... You don't say, 'Oh, you're huge!'"
Though it was all in good fun, a repentant Jerry issued a statement the next day: "I regret calling my wife huge on Conan O'Brien. I meant to say there are specific parts of my wife that are larger and growing every day. All other portions of my wife are quite petite. I apologize to her and will be coming home with flowers."
Keep digging, Jerry. Keep digging. The couple are expecting twin girls in January, so if putting his foot in his mouth hasn't taught Jerry his lesson yet, life with three women in the house will.

dave said...It's rather obvious that norma, josie, and jackie are not married unless it is to each other. I don't see how any man, unless he is one of those "men by an accident of birth only" could be married to such obvious men hating shrews.

I'm sure Rebecca had to had been mortified when she saw him on TV saying that. He's been so caught up in that image where he makes these goofy looking faces and expressions on TV.

At worst, this is an offense that gets him an evil glare and his wife not speaking to him for the night, while some of you whiny people think he should be cut to shreds for this. It was a joke, perhaps in bad taste, but so what?
I guarantee unless you have a kept husband who is a robot with no thoughts in his own head has thought this very thing when you were pregnant. Maybe he was sharp enough not to say something like this but more than likely he did slip up. A pregnant woman is a beautiful thing but dang, lighten up people. If this is the worst he ever does to her then I would wager she sees him as a saint.
I have ticked off my wife plenty of times with what I have said and vice versa. Shocker, we forgive each other and move on. Any of you who hold grudges and envision torture for a guy doing something like this really need to get over your princess complex and live in the real world for just a little bit.

AmMeAlwasy said...Maybe he was just joking, but men should be more sensitive to those type of comments about their women. You just don't go there. Besides, he was chunky when he was young, so he knows what kind of teasing he underwent as a "huge" kid and goes to great measures to stay fit now. She is pregnant with twins my goodness and she looks like a goddess!
