DailyDish - Soak before you soap
Let the water fill up completely before adding detergent to your laundry load.

Doing so will allow the soap to spread throughout the load more evenly, and keep it from getting caught up in items, possibly bleaching them or sucking out the color.
If you have time, and a spare spatula, use said spatula to actually mix the soap into the water. I know you're laughing about that--time? Who has time?--but it really will help keep your brights brighter. If you don't have time, at least let the water completely fill up the washer before adding the detergent, and make sure you spread it as evenly around the washer as possible. Please note the spatula option only works with top-loading washers.
