My brother and I have both been thin our entire lives. We have both had to constantly defend ourselves to family, friends, strangers and whoever as to "why" we are thin. Even people in my own family who have watched us eat healthy and watched us eat large portions have questioned whether or not we have had an eating disorder. I get sick of hearing it. I have had two children and gained a healthy amount of weight with each child - 30-40 pounds. I heard constant comments about how people were happy that I was "fat" during my pregnancy. People jump to conclusions and judge thin people. Some people are born thin and some people are not. Yes, some people do have eating disorders. But there are some people who do not and cannot change their body shape no matter what they do. It is difficult to find clothes that fit right. It is difficult to hide a thin body to keep people from judging you. It is difficult to have to live your whole life under a microscope and have to defend something you can't change.

I agree with 2Joys, you don't know her so how do you know what she eats and if she has anorexia?

A friend of mine is also thin, she has struggled with it her whole life, she hates her size but she can't help it.

She was quite lean but perfectly healthy-looking in Bend It Like Beckham, so I find it hard to believe that this current stick-thin figure is her natural state.

I agree with the posters above, how can you sit there and call her "facetious" and say that she "protests too much"? Aren't you a woman also? Haven't you ever been plagued by fellow classmates, co-workers, family, friends etc. who comment about your weight? Haven't you ever been self-concious about your weight? Most women are at some point in their lives. Whether you are labeled "thin" or "fat" it hurts. It hurts when people are always talking about you. It makes us get frustrated inside and snap comments at people that perhaps we would look back on later and say "maybe I shouldn't have said that" but it doesn't matter if she meant it or not. She's been through a lot with her image. First, in one of her movies they wanted to paint boobs on her figure and she protested...she doesn't want to give people a false idea of who she is and she was plenty pissed off when they went and did it anyway the first time. So yeah, maybe she does "protest" a lot, but I think it's rightfully so. People like you who comment how "I think she'd rather die than trade her thinness for anything" are exactly what exasperates some celebrities to say comments like she did. Lay off her, you don't know her and you don't know why she's so thin. Either way, she's beautiful and a good actress, she doesn't need this from people, she really doesn't.

Perhaps she is just one of those people who is thin, who will always be thin, who doesn't like to eat a lot or maybe she restricts her diet to only whole, nutritious foods?
Who cares if she is super thin? We'll never know if it is from starving herself or from her genes.
People should just lay off this young woman.
In fact, it could be that she just wants to live a long life. There have been a few studies done that suggest a very low calorie diet promotes long life.

I think this article explains a lot about her. First you start off with a headline that is complete BS, then you wink and chuckle at how clever you are in your first line. You have basically made her argument for her - you (the "media") are being a jerk.

I'm not thin by any definition so it's a little bizarre for me to feel like defending this woman. All I have to do is pretend for a moment that she's fat. Really fat. All your cute jokes about how she should eat and how getting pregnant would be the only way to get people off her back - I turn them around and imagine them being said to me. It's tacky and childish.

Her weight, her eating habits, her desire (real or imagined) to reproduce is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! What if she DOES have an eating disorder? Do you think making fun of her will help? Do you snatch canes from the blind too? Make fun of the mentally challenged? I hate this nasty bullying attitude people take with the very thin or very fat.

If you find her so unattractive that you don't want to see her movies, then don't. But for God sakes quit picking on her.

I haven't seen her any other way but thin so I think it's natural for her to be that way, unlike others who go from looking healthy to skelatal almost over night, like Linsey Lohan,Nicole Richie, etc.......

Oh come on, I was really thin all my life, but look at her. You can see where there is a normal body and a too thin one. She is malnourished. And she just looks awful.

It's funny...if Keira had just opted for implants, nobody would be splashing her face all over everywhere about how thin she is. People are just not used to seeing a thin girl without a massive chest in Hollywood.

Her head looks too big for her body-she was a pretty young woman-now she's plain frightful. I thought she didn't care what anyone thought of her anyway now she wants to get pregnant to put on weight so people will stop talking about her. How about stop slinking around with your mouth hanging open and put a big fat cheeseburger in it.

I feel bad for this girl!! She is thin..it happens. My little sister is 5'10 and before kids she was 110lbs. She was so thin you could count just about every bone in her body, but she does not have an eatting disorders!! Her doctor even questioned her and her best friend about her eatting habits. She ate ALL the time, now even after 3 kids and #4 on way she is still only a size 6 at her biggest, and she does not work out at all!! some people are just thin and stay that way!!

I hear you. I was thin from the time I was around two up until my sophomore year in high school. All of the sudden I put on ten pounds the summer after my freshman year in high school. This one lady said to me, you are too thin. I said I am not too thin, I feel perfectly fine, I was around that time about 5'1. As for my brother, as far as I can remember he has always been thin, except for those first fifteen months after he got married to my now sister in law.

I guess she thought he was too thin, so she fattened him up quite a bit. I finally found the courage one day when he and his wife were here back around New Years Day 2003. I said you used to be slim and trim and he said that's because he ate cold stuff on the ship, at the time he was in Great Lakes for some other school, so he didn't have to be on a ship. He then slimmed down after the summer of 2003.

My mom is now the thinest one in all of the family. She is now naturally thin, I thought for sure she would have gained weight when she went through menopause, but she didn't, it would have been good for her too. Although she tells me that she used to weigh 165 when she was a kid, she was always up and down with her weight up until around the late 1990s. I refused to believe it, because as far as I can remember, she has always been thin.

I think that Kiera Knightley is naturally thin. Some people are and some people aren't, it depends on your genes. My mom and I are close. My dad and I are the complete opposite. My brother and I used to be close, but not anymore. Although some people are naturally thin, she just happens to be that way. Most women are not thin again after they have a child or two.

My mom always went back down to her pre baby weight after my brother and I were born. She gained 21 pounds with each of us. She weighed 143 when my brother was born, she was 122 when she got pregnant, and she was 133 when I was born and weighed 112 when she got pregnant with me, My mom had my brother December 26,1979 ( 6 weeks early) and she had me November 11,1987 ( 2 1/2 weeks early).

This doctor in GA at the time (my dad was in the Army and was in the Army when my brother was born)when she got pregnant with me was very persistent on what is now called Vaginal Birth After Ceasarian (VBAC) and my mom refused I don't know how many times, a few months later they packed up and moved to Michigan, my dad was due to go to Korea in August the year I was born, My brother was 7 year and 10 1/2 months when I was born.

My brother was born via c-section because my mom's labor was not progressing with the pitocin that induces labor, which it was not doing. It just depends on the woman, My mom was clearly made to have pre-mature kids, My mom was in the hospital a month before I was born, We went home the Sunday after I was born. Which was five weeks and a day. I hope I am not made to have pre-mature babies.
