When it comes to parenting, don't feel the need to follow or even listen to everyone else's advice.

Being a parent is hard enough work without having to field through all the advice of friends, family, colleagues and even perfect strangers. While that advice may be well-meant, it isn't always accurate and it's not always best for you and your family. My advice? Don't listen to advice! Do what your gut tells you to do. Sure, you can consult your pediatrician or other medical professionals, check the Internet and call your best friend. Ultimately, though, what you do with regard to your family's well-being is up to you and should be based on what you really feel is right. That's part of what it means to be a parent.
