Joely Fisher adopts a baby girl
Categories: Celeb Parenting
It's a baby girl for actress Joely Fisher and husband Christopher Duddy. The couple recently adopted newborn Olivia Luna Fisher-Duddy. Not only are the new mom and dad swooning over their latest addition, but siblings Cameron, 22, Collin, 20, Skylar, 7, and True, nearly 3, are said to be doting on her as well. Olivia was adopted from the U.S., and out of respect to her birth mother, the family is keeping mum on the details.Fisher plays Joy Stark on the FOX sitcom 'Til Death opposite Brad Garrett, and Christopher Duddy is a cinematographer. The couple have been married since 1996. Fisher is active in several charities that serve needy children, such as Save the Children and Kids Care Camp.
Congratulations to the whole family!

i guess there is a reason why there is a "duh" in your name. there are any number of reasons why people adopt. and the least of it is because they have an abundance of love to give a child whether, "their own biological" child or not. Your view is so xenophobic as to be scary. Are you unable to love your husband because he is not your own "Biological" blood? Come off it....does this mean, that if someone is not of your own genes, that you can not love that person? Are you sure, this is what you really mean, or is a projection of how you feel, that people view you, as unlovable.

Brava! I love to read stories like this!!!!! With SO many celebs turning to infertility treatments to insure they have little "mini-me's" (think J.Lo and Mark Anthony) - it's so refrshing to read about those who are true humanitarians and really, just want to be PARENTS - unconcerned with wether or not little "junior" looks like mommy or daddy!

This is wrong-the baby should have been adopted by someone who did not have any kids because there are not enough babies to go around.

Any adoption is a wonderful event! I have an adopted grandson and no, he doesn't look anything like his three siblings! But that doesn't matter at all. We adore the little guy. My daughter and her husband are foster parents and just happened to fall in love with him. But you couldn't believe the children they care for who have been abused beyond imagining are are headed right back to that environment. Our child welfare system is broken, and those having babies who can't or won't care for them lovingly only add to the problem. And no, I don't believe in abortion.

Gail does it matter how many children someone has as long as they give them the love and care they deserve..you sound bitter like you couldnt adopt..actually Im very glad to hear a celebrity adopted in the United States instead of out of the country like some celebrities we know. We have way too many kids in the US that need parents. People like Angelina, and Madonna go outside of the US and think they are being patriaotic when they arent. They give their money to other countries instead of keeping it home like they should especially since the US gave them their stardom first!!!

Are you for real Gail!!!???

Totally WRONG in my opinion. Is the child NOT entitled to siblings? Just because someone who is childless WANTS a child doesnt mean they DESERVE one. Some people who have their own children dont deserve to be parents. Just be happy the child was wanted. You dont just take an orpahned child & place them with someone who doesnt have children. The comment "There arent enough children to go around" makes it sound like a kids party that ran out of treats. Adoption is not a 4 hour childrens party. Its a LIFETIME responsibility.

it was probably a private adoption and the birth mother has the right to choose who she wants raising her child
she wouldnt want someone that was judgemental to raise it

congradulations and god bless you and your family.i know you all will give this child all she needs and most of all love.i adopted a child last year and i am so glad i did.she was saved as well as your child.it can be real hard for children to be in the system and have knowone to care if they are alive or dead.better yet in the wrong hands of evil people.again god bless you.

So happy for their family! The baby is very blessed, as is most adopted children. And for the person who said only people with no children should adopt because there there supposedly isnt enough babies to go around?! Are you insane? Babies are left in trash cans, and abondened in dumpsters. The lucky few whose brave mothers put them in loving families want for them a better life then they can offer. There is an incredible need for thousands upon thousands of babies and children that need home. Havent you ever heard of kids that spend their whole childhood in foster care???
Not enough babies to go around? There arent enough applicants my friend!

I'm glad they chose to adopt a child from the US. There is nothing wrong with international adoption, but we have so many children of our own in this country that need loving families as well.

Congratulations on the adoption. It is something to be proud of. I'm an adopted kid myself. The baby is a very lucky little girl to be in such a loving home with such loving brothers and sisters. I, should know. I'm also an adopted kid, and I've got the greatest family that anyone could get. Best wishes to you all.

Great to see a celebrity that is interested in adopting from the USA and helping those here in our country!! Don't get me wrong, I feel for those children in very poor countries but hey, we have plenty of children here that are needing a good home! Good for you Fischer's!

I wonder how long they had been on a waiting list for adoption if this was not a private adoption.....many couples wait for months and years to adopt. If it was not a private adoption and they moved ahead of the line because of their "star" status, that is unfair

Being an adopted child at birth, and having 4 adopted children myself, I say congratulations to baby Olivia and her "family". Often, people think that children who are adopted, come from biological parents that didn't care about them.... but in most cases it is just the "opposite". It is because they love those children so much, that they "give them up". They want those children to have everything they know they can't provide for them. To love someone enough to "let them go".... is about the most "selfless" thing anyone could ever do. I was blessed because someone loved me enough to "let me go", and I love my biological parents for that, everyday of my life.

I just find it so odd how everyday people wait years maybe even lifetimes before they eve get to adopt a child let alone a baby. Yet all these celbrities "buy" them up in weeks! She already has 4 children of her own and some mother/fathe out there is waiting for an adoption to go through while these celebrities just keep 'buying" them up. It is sick! I guess if you have enough money to throw at an agency or impoverished nation or greedy nation a human can be bought! WHo knew..........

Well, at least they didn't name the child something outrageous like Fuddy.
