Calling All Kid-Friendly Grilled Cheese Sandwiches!

Let's face it. We never outgrow the comforting goodness of grilled cheese. There's just something about the combination of melted cheese and bread that fills our tummies and warms our hearts. And for all the endless reasons we love it, there are endless combinations for creating the perfect grilled cheese sandwich.
We may go gourmet with our grilled cheese as adults. But when it comes down to it, grilled cheese plain and simple -- the kind our kids inhale -- will always be the childhood champ of sandwiches. So we want to know: How do you grill your cheese for your kids?
Submit your recipe in the comments section at the bottom of this page no later than Friday, October 31. Please be clear and specific. If you can, please submit a web-friendly image (at least 75 dpi, no smaller than 200px wide) of your grilled cheese creation.
On Monday, November 10, we'll reveal our favorites in a Top 5 list and video demonstrating how to make two of your submitted recipes -- all on our Five-Minute Family Favorites hub.

The perfect grilled cheese for my 4 year old daughter uses Sara Lee Heart Healthy 100% Multigrain bread, 2 slices of Kraft Cheese and a few spritzes of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter".
I usually spritz each side of each piece of bread very lightly with the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" (helps to make it "golden brown".
Place the cheese slices in between to construct the sandwich. Then, using a George Foreman grill, I toast the sandwich for 30-45 seconds on one side, flip it over and rotate 90 degrees (to create tic tac toe grill marks) and grill another 30 seconds.
This makes the perfect grilled cheese. It's not oily, but it's light, slightly crispy and the cheese is perfectly melted. This is the easiest, quickest yummiest grilled cheese.

2 slices of english muffin bread
Spread the bread with I can't belive it's not butter
non-butter side down, take garlic powder. Sprinkle lightly. Then take fresh shreaded parm. or mozzarella pat in down so it sticks to the butter. Your choice of cheese. But my daughter loves velvetta. American slices will work. Start your griddle and place butter/cheese side down place cheese on the inside. One or two slices. Put together. And let the cheese join together,. Enjoy!!

Butter. Real butter. it has to be very soft.
heat your pan to medium. Make sure it's fully heated to medium.
Use white bread. plain old white bread.
cover one slice fully with real butter. spread it thin.
when your pan is heated, put that slice in, butter side down.
while that happens, work fast and place two slices of real white american cheese on the bread in the pan.
I mean real cheese. Not that crap you get in plastic packs.
Go to the deli and get boars head or similar.
now quickly spread the butter completely over the second slice of plain white bread. place it on the cheese and bread in the pan, butter side up.
by now, it should be time to flip. if it's not golden brown, wait a bit. if it's dark brown, your pan is too hot.
if it's good for flipping, do it. then cover it for like a 45 seconds.
check it and take it out when it's golden brown.
place it on a paper towel for 30 seconds. then flip it to the other side. this will keep it crispy and not let it get soggy like so many do.
get out the tomato soup and dip away!

How about a tasty grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup... Pictures and step-by-step directions here: http://www.averagebetty.com/?p=198
I think letting kids get involved in the process is the key to being able to use "good" ingredients and preparing a comforting classic that kids and adults will love :) It takes a little longer to cook with kids but the lessons and memories last a lifetime...
