Madonna and Guy Ritchie - It's officially over
Filed under: Divorce & Custody, Celeb Parents
First there were the rumors , including a possible affair. Then there were the denials. And finally, there was an attempt at reconciliation, including renewing of their wedding vows. But now that all is said and done, Madonna and Guy Ritchie say their marriage is over after seven and a half years together. The couple jointly announced their plans to divorce through Madonna's publicist. Together, they are parents to Rocco, 8, and David, 3, who the adopted from Malawi in 2006. Madonna is also mom to Lourdes, 12. No word yet on how they'll arrange custody, but it'll likely be an international arrangement. Rumors have it that Madonna may come back to New York, though for now they'll be staying in separate homes in or near London.
London is a-twitter with rumors that Guy could get half of Madonna's fortune, since they never signed a prenuptial agreement. But lawyers say that's unlikely, and the pair both hope to stay out of court. Knowing Madonna, she'd rather make headlines through her music than her marriage, so it's likely to be a lot more low-key than a lot of celebrity divorces we've seen lately.
