Does Katherine Heigl want to adopt?

You know, it wasn't so long ago that actress Katherine Heigl eschewed motherhood for her career. The Grey's Anatomy star said being in the film Knocked Up not only turned her off being pregnant but that she didn't want motherhood to stand in the way of her burgeoning career.
Now it looks like the newlywed is changing her ways. According to the National Enquirer--which means you should probably take this with a grain of salt--Heigl and musician husband Josh Kelley are interested in adopting a child from Korea. According to the source, Heigl and Kelley have selected that country because Heigl's older sister, Meg, was adopted from Korea.
The report goes on to say that Heigl will complete the adoption within a year and has already contacted an adoption agency to get the process underway. Whether such information is true remains to be seen, but if she is interested in adopting, I wish Katherine the best of luck. It's about time she realized that as a woman in Hollywood it is now essential to have a baby in order to make it in La La Land--and stay there. We have the likes of Angelina Jolie to thank for that.

She infers that Katherine Heigl needs to adopt a child in order to be an A-list Hollywood star like Angelina Jolie. Jordan acts like an adopted child is an accessory, like the latest Chanel bag or Christian Laboutaine shoe.
I wish Katherine Heigl and her husband much success if they do adopt a baby from South Korea, because soon that country will pass a law which makes it imposible to adopt children from there. They currently have more Koreans adopting in that country than foreigners. Maybe Ms. Heigl and Mr. Kelly might want to think about adopting a child in this country.

Just try to remember that there are also many children in this country that need homes too. A lot of people seem to forget that. Why are people of means always so quick to worry about foreign orphans.

We have an adopted son from Korea and and adopted daughter from Vietnam. Together the 4 of us have had a wonderful life for the past 21 years. Once you lay your eyes on the child who will be yours, he/she is yours and do not ever let anyone tell you differently!

jb said...The reason americans adopt out of the country is because they don't have to worry about the birthparent showing up later saying they want their child back. My brother in law adopted two kids from Russia for this very reason, the birth parents are given 3 chances to change their mind before it is final. After the adoption is finalized the birth parents are never told who adopted the or where the child is.

ninainindia said...It bothers me that you think children in the USA are more worthy of being adopted than children from other countries. If anything a child in an orphanage probably has a far bigger chance of dying young than a child in an orphanage in the US.

The story said her SISTER was adopted from Korea! Some readers need to take a reading comprehension course. Dis the author of the story for saying she was trying to be an A-lister, not Katherine. I'm sure Katherine is happily living her own wonderful life and could care less about Angelina's.

Pam said...Why is it that all the celebrities adopt from other countries when there are so many orphans here in the United States that need a home and love, too. And why do newlyweds want to have children immediately? Take time to adjust to 24/7 with one another first so it isn't marriage, instant parenthood and then divorce.

Cearralyn said...First off, Angelina is not a slut. People who say that are jealous of her whether they admit it or not. Secondly, I take issue with the writer of this article when they wrote "the likes of Angelina" like there is something wrong with that. As for people who are carping about people adopting in other countries, and not here, children and babies here are not in as dire need. Sorry, but it is true. They have food and shelter in orphanages, etc. Children in other countries do not most of the time. And what should it MATTER, anyway!? A child is a child, no matter WHAT its nationality is!? Shame on some of you posters!

stacey said...Many people adopt from other countries because of the waiting list and time it takes to get an infant here in the United States. There aren't thousands of infants lying around in orphanges like there are in other counties. Plus its highly unlikely those babies are going to be adopted in their countries. Anyone who finds fault with adopting a child from another country can go right ahead and adopt one here. Adopting is a gift no matter where the child comes from.
