Serta foam core mattresses - Product Recall
Categories: Health & safety, Kid decor & style, Shopping & recalls
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 6,100 Serta Zipper-Covered Foam Core Mattresses because they fail to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses. The recalled mattresses were made in the United States and sold at mattress retailers nationwide from December 2007 through May 2008 for up to $2,500 each.
The recalled mattresses have a zipper cover over a foam core. They were sold in twin, full, queen, king and California king sizes. The recalled mattresses were manufactured between November 30, 2007 and May 20, 2008. You can find the mattress name, date of manufacture, model, and serial number located on a label attached to the mattress. Only specific serial numbers are included in the recall -- a complete list of those numbers are available on the CPSC Website.
If you have one of the recalled mattresses, you should immediately contact Serta to receive a free replacement mattress cover. You can then either install the new cover yourself, or Serta will arrange for installation by a qualified repair technician.
For more information, contact Serta by calling them toll-free at (866) 675-3853 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their Web site.
