Traci Lords

Former porn star and sometime actress Traci Lords says she refused to go topless in her new movie--because she was breastfeeding. The Cry Baby starlet, who hasn't shown her breasts since 1987 (according to her), was firm with her decision to Kevin Smith, her director in the recent smash Zack and Miri Make a Porno because she was lactating.

Lords gave birth to son Joseph in late 2007 and was still breastfeeding him when she came up for the role of a porn star named Bubbles in the latest venture from the Clerks director. Lords commented that, additionally, she wanted to have her breasts remembered the way they used to be, in their "heyday."

Traci has worked hard for over a decade to move away from her porn movies, which made her famous. (She was allegedly underage when they were shot). Now, it seems she wants to be taken seriously--not only as an actress, but as a mom too! And Lords is, by definition, a working mom trying to balance work and life responsibilities. It's great that she is not only breastfeeding but also not letting work get in the way of her personal commitment to her son.

Who'd have thought breastfeeders would find a champion in a (former) porn star? Way to go, Traci!
