Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow - How far would you go for your best friend?
When Madonna made plans to split with hubby Guy Ritchie, she also parted ways with her adopted home of London to return to New York. But she left something -- or someone -- behind in London, her best friend Gwyneth Paltrow. And according to the tabloids, she's working her magic to get Gwyn to come back to the U.S. with her.You know what they say, what Madonna wants, she usually gets.
But maybe not this time. After all, Gwyneth is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for five years, and the couple have two children together. It doesn't seem likely that Gwyneth will uproot her entire -- and reportedly, happy -- family just because Madonna misses her.
We all have those friends, the ones we'd do nearly anything for. But the definition of "anything" changes as you grow older, and especially after you start a family. "Anything" starts to have conditions, like "anything that doesn't involve me uprooting my children and husband and move abroad." I think, if the story is true, Madonna is being more than a little selfish.
What about you? How far would you go for a friend?

Julie said...I moved from New York to Alabama for three years for a friend after her husband was killed and she was injured in a car accident. I cared for her children and mine, and my hsuband stayed in NYC and flew down every weekend. Granted, it was more complicated than "I miss you" and we'd been friends for 21 years, but still.
